| ![]() What you're describing is not normal. Even though the dentist removed a piece of bone, it kind of sounds like you have a dry socket. I'd go back to the dentist and have him check it.

| ![]() You poor baby...I too have a deathly fear of dentists...I have two broken back teeth and they hurt but i would rather deal with the pain than go to the dentist!! I had to have a root canal a few years back and took two xanax plus they put me on the laughing gas but I was still a nervous wreck by the time it was over. I layed there stiff as a board for over two hours and the next day I felt like I had been in a boxing match because my whole body was sore. I think you need to see a new dentist and possibly I think that dentist messed something up because like you said them going out in the hall and whispering and not telling you what is going on....seems fishy to me. Remember you are a paying customer and it is your body they are dealing with and were you 100% satisfied with their work on your mouth? You are entitled to know what is wrong esp. if it was something negligent on their part. I hope you feel better....I bet you can't suck through a straw because of the pain so I would see if you can make like a slushy milkshake out of your favorite icecream and eat it with a baby spoon. ![]()

| ![]() Okay, I am a dental hygienist and I will try to give you all the advise I can. Please don't drink from a straw...that WILL give you dry socket. Your wound is trying to clot, if you suck on a straw, the clot could come out. Food and junk will get in the area and that is when it becomes a very painful dry socket. Sometimes small parts of the bone comes with the tooth...not all the time. My uncle and brother in law are dentist and I have seen this happen, especially with molar teeth. I hope this helps...not all extractions go smoothly...I hope you feel better and make sure you stay on your pain meds. Jessica |

| ![]() You need to chenge dentist NOW!!! NO dentist should do that and they should have had you come in so they could check it again. It would bleed for more than 2 minutes but it should not be gushing and definitely houldnt be killing you so bad with pain. He did something VERY wrong. I am actually a dental assistant by prefession (long story) and NEVER have I seen a dentist act in such a matter. Are you feeling any better? Is the pain dying down. If not you need to either call them back OR go to another dentist but switch out cold and warm comressses on your mouth every 30 minutes or so ...Im sorry your experiences have been so aewful. Dentists like that give all dentists a bad rep. Ppl wonder why everybody hates the dentist!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | ![]() OK all i have been at my mom's all day she has been helping me with my baby as i am in pain. Well the pain has not gone away and i slept pretty much all day long when i woke up and realized it was hurting a little worse i again called the dentist but they were already closed so i asked for the on call dentist to call me back. He did call me and i explained the situation to him and told him i could barely open my mouth and he had the nerve to tell me this"Why are you having me call you why didn't you call during business hours? There is no way he could have damaged or even broken your jaw and if the pain pills aren't working then you should stop taking them and take ibuprofen you will have to wait till tomorrow to talk with the dentist you seen also you probably have a dry socketHe was so ignorant to me all i wanted was to see if they could get me a diff pain med and just ask if i should be in this much pain and i also asked him well would a dry socket cause me to have pain opening my mouth and he told me no so i don't get it. Also i have noticed that i am having a lot of pain where he gave me the shots and on the inside of my cheek i have a huge blue line where he gave me one of the shots. Both sides of my jaw are hurting now i can't lay down because there is so much pressure on my jaw even if i lay on my back. So i am going to call another dentist tomorrow not really sure what they can do for me. I am so upset i don't know what to do. Well i appreciate all the support from you all you have been wonderful thank you.

| ![]() This just doesn't sound like it could possibly be "normal". I think you MUST seek other dental care. If the pain gets too bad tonight, you may need to go to the ER!

| ![]() Reasons like this make me scared to go to the dentist. You don't know if you are going to get a good or not so good dentist and thats what scares the heck out of me. I hope you feel better and I sure hope everything he did was normal. I have heard that a dry socket is the worst pain it's like going into hard labor, but a hard labor that does not stop for days OUCH!!!

| ![]() Any luck finding a new dentist? I feel bad that you are in such pain. If he took xrays 1st, he would have known if there was going to be a problem. Then he should have discussed it with you first. Having a tooth pulled shouldn't be so traumatic or painful. I'm sorry. I hope there is no damage and you start feeling better soon. ![]()
