| ![]() Hey Cindy, I want to let you know that I've been thinking about the whole "$1000" donation thing. And let me tell you that you've made me think about donation in a different light! ![]() ![]() I belong to a non-profit, volunteer Rescue Squad. We receive no money monthly/yearly/etc. from our township. The only thing we receive from them is gas. All our donations come from whoever donates, which is usually the people of my town. We rely soley on donations. If we didn't have those, we wouldn't have ambulances, supplies, etc...hence, no squad. Anyway, back to what I was saying LOL...we are presently selling raffle tickets. The tickets are $50.00 a piece. And you don't know how many people (including myself) thought that $50.00 was so high for a ticket. I'm selling them, and my reasoning was: "We're only selling 1000 tickets, and look at our prizes. $18,000 Harley Davidson, $3000 Plasma TV, etc." I was going about it all wrong! And thanks to you, I've figured a different way of explaining. People need to understand that they are really making a donation to support our squad, and possibly winning something is just a perk! Kinda sorta like the Yorkie Rescue...you donate money to the rescue, and as a perk (if you want a dog) you get a precious furbaby! ![]() So, for those of you who can afford to donate $1000 to Yorkie Rescue, go do it! ![]() ![]()

If it was so easy why are so many Yorkies on petfinder.com and did you know that: • Only 38% of all dogs and cats will remain in their first home for their entire lives. • Nationally, over 50% of all adopted animals are no longer in their adoptive home after just the first year. If it was so easy why are close to 12 Million pets euthanized every year. If you really want to learn about what goes on with our pets volunteer some time at your local animal control or human society. Oh and by the way - there are many members on YT who have adopted rescued Yorkies and they think they are perfect. Many of these adopted little ones are AKC and are quite beautiful.

| ![]() Cindy is right about that.... sometimes I have the cutest babies for the longest time and DON'T understand it. I also get so many people that come here and then get a dog from a MILL because they think it is BETTER because it is a BREEDER... and I use the term loosely ![]() ![]() Sorry.. I got off the subject ![]()

| ![]() no unfortunatley all of them but people could at least try instead of dumping their pets they "found" which they obviously didn't they could make an effort..put up flyers adds something anything! try to at least find them a home. they just act like they are disposible when all the sudden they get bigger or chew on something. |

| ![]() First I would like to thank all of you who do rescue work for saving the lives of so many dogs of all breeds. I have, over they years, adopted two dogs from the local animal shelter. One was a german shepard who was one and lived to be 17yrs. The second was a terrier mix who was approx 2yrs I was told and lived to be 16yrs. Both had to be put down at the end due to old age. I would not put myself through that heartbreak again I told myself. Well two yrs later I realized I missed my fur baby and deceided to get a Yorkie. Now living in a condo, kids grown, home sold. I contacted YTNR and never heard from them problably because I worked. I know many rescue groups do not approve of a working MOM. I think that might be one reason pups don't move fast. I finally purcahsed my Yorkie for $1400.00. I am a working Mom and can still give a pet a loving home. He was 3 1/2 mos when I got him, he was trained at 5mos and at 2yrs has full run of my condo and touches nothing and is fully trained in every way. It is the amount of time and love you give your pet when you are at home that counts as far as I am concerned. I take 1/2 hr. every morning after his breakfast and sit on the floor and play with him. When I am home after work it is Buddy and I. He sleeps with me and weekends we go places. I am committed to my fur baby. I would have had no problem giving the money to any group but never heard from them and was told by others it was because I am not at home during the day. I personally wanted a rescue and older dog but had no luck so I bought one. Guess it was meant to be. Thanks again to all you rescuers you are special people. |
