| nobody was ever involved in any greek campus organization in my family till I went to college (well my dad was the only other one in my family to go to college before i did) I was always really shy and very nervous around others so when I started talking about joining a sorority everyone was like: lol Now I can't imagine not ever joining one. It sounds corny but they really do become your sisters and I have made some of the bestest closest friends I have ever made when I joined Alpha Xi Delta I am also proud to say I got my first little sister this past April I <3 her! :-) My brother who goes to Ohio State decided to rush a fraternity after I joined Alpha Xi Delta and he is now a Phi Gamma Delta aka FIJI (they can't have their greek letters which I never understood ) and he LOVES it. My third brother will start school at my school (YSU) in the fall and I wouldn't be surprised if he went and joined Phi Mu Alpha (it's a fraternity but they're more music based and he's going to be a tuba major) Everyone thinks greek life is nothing but wild sex and drinking. That is NOT what my sorority is like at all (as I'm sure everyone else's greek organization is also not like this). We volunteer like crazy, we band together when things get rough, we're always there for each other. I can't tell you how many times I've had my blood sugar get really low and one of my sisters is there to help me. I know of six who now carry glucose tablets with them in case I need them lol ::stepping off soap box:: soroities and fraternities are not what the stereotype is. I hope people know that and if they don't I hope they realize it :-) okay I'm done talking a lot...lol I do talk a lot Melissa
