| ASAP who knows about nose bleeds My son just came up and his nose is gushing!!!!!!! He has really bad allergies, so I am sure it's from this, but it's BAD. I have him tilting his head back and pinching. Should I take him to emergency????

Donating YT 30K Club Member | If it doesn't stop real soon I would take him in better to be safe. Also, i don't think their suppossed to tilt their head back anymore. My dtr when she was 6 had a very bad flu and one morning she started bleeding so bad my husband and I ran her to the ER. They had to cauterize her nose to stop the bleeding. She looked so pale when we took her in. The Dr. even asked my dtr how it happened and I started to say she had a bad cold and they said "I was asking her". Like we had hit her or something! I hope he has stopped bleeding . My dtr also has allergies.

| Thank you Patti, It stopped thank God, tomorrow we are going to allergist, let him know it's been 2 days in a row now. Yesterday was not THIS bad, but I have had them for 3 days now, none like this, yes I agree with cauterization (sp) maybe necessary. This has been the worst allergy season here. Especially for those of us suffering with them already. Thanks again for your help

| Correct, don't tilt his head back...the blood can choke and kill him. If it is bleeding profusely, then take him to the ER it may not be able to clot or stop on it's on.

| Using a Neti Pot daily makes a huge difference with allergies. The salt water rinse keeps the sinuses free from allergens. Nose bleeds are quite common with allergies, particularly if the nose is constantly itchy with lots of blowing. Keep in mind that nasal sprays do not work like a nasal wash does. Kind of gross when you first start - but I know if I go a day and forget to do it. Not expensive at all, Neti-pot costs anywhere from $10-$20 (one time purchase) and a bag of non-iodized salt runs about $3.00 and lasts for a couple months. Certainly less expensive than regular doctor visits!!

| I got bloody noses daily when I was a kid. A normal bloody nose should stop by appling pressure to the bridge of the nose within 5 minutes. If it does not stop after 5 minutes see a doctor immediately. Do not tip head back. Look straight ahead & pinch the nose. Dry nasal passages can also cause bad nose bleeds. They make mosturizing sprays for nasal passages that may help.
