| Well since I'm getting my mom an iron I don't know if you will like that idea. Last year we got my mother-in-law a hibiscus tree and put in in a pretty pot. She still has it and every time we go over there she mentions how its still going strong. If she was anything like me she'd be ready to kill me for buying her a plant that she has to keep alive. I kill everything green that comes in my house. One year we got her a cast iron bird bath and this year we are getting her a cast iron hanging pot, like the ones you see on everybodys front porch that has pine straw in it. My mother is a bit odd she is perfectly happy with dish towels and kitchen appliances. Most women would never want an iron for Mother's day but she is so excited about it. Good luck finding something...

| I got my mom a day of pampering. Starting with lunch with me and my girls and then pedicures and manicures for all. I also give my mom a plant every year for Mother's day. She has 17 plants in her garden, all from me from various mother's day. I hope she never moves lol.

| How about a rare (special) orchid or African Violet. They are a flower, but not just an every day flower. You could even repot them into a pretty crisp white or red vase or even an angel vase (make your own with a cheap glass vase, angel picture (magazine, internet, etc) and decoupage (HodgePodge) glue. You could find or make a sturdy carry all or tote bag (one with angels - so many different designs for angels - or a white with red hibiscus flowers (or vice/versa), etc. Put the flower in pot in the tote and then add some other little gifts. If they are home-made the better. - Like make a handmade card with pressed flowers from your garden, etc. You and your sister could even go in together on the gifts and make it that much more special. I got my mother and mother-in-law a mint foot spa set (lotion, soak, etc) at a local outlet mall for only $3.99 (it had about 5 things in it) - mint helps relieve stress and works wonders on tried/achey feet - and each a small African Violet (their favorite color) with a pretty bigger vase (since the flowers come in such small plastic ones) filled with a small bag of special African Violet potting mix, a pair of garden gloves and a small garden tool. Plus, a fancy looking purse planner (Thomas Kincaid - which they both love) that I got for only 15 cents at the outlet and a mothers key chain (funny gag gift) that was 25 cents at the outlet. I also got them both (each different) a book of poems that is actually their card (those were 25 cents at the outlet) and for my mother - a special hardback book "and God created Mothers" - again, from the outlet for 50 cents. I put it all in a cute, girly purse shaped gift bag (got at the $1.00 Store in my area), so I did pretty well for not spending a whole lot. All meaningful gifts (for us) and a little humor too.

| I had to go simple due to finances..but I think they'll like it. I did the same for my mom, grandma and sister who will all be here sunday. I have a pic of my boys and my 2 nieces on Easter that I did in black and white and framed in a black frame (5x7) Im trying to alter the pic and leave some flowers in it in color, but I dont know how to do that anyway...then I bought some clay pots and the boys have to paint those and I'll put some flower seeds in them as well

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | CUTE ideas ! and Speaking as a mom who loves perfume - don't feel like that isn't special - I remember EVERY bottle of perfume ever given to me and when I wear it - I think of the person who gave it to me....I really do. Each scent that was a gift is THAT persons scent to me. |

| Well you mentioned something Red... We were going to get Dewaine's mom a red garden tiller, but being the procrastinator he is, he waited until today to get it and they are all sold out! So I am going to Dillard's tomorrow and get her a $100 gift card. I know it sounds impersonal but she is really picky and loves Dillard's...I think she will like it just fine! I am getting a Schwinn Recumbant Exercise Bike...my choice...work my fat butt off!!! Well I say fat...I feel fat anyway and everybody needs exercise, right??? Happy Mother's Day to all you Mothers!!!
