I love Sun Conures!!! I don't have one but my husband and I just adore them! We know if we ever get a bird we'd want a sun conure! Good luck! Feel free to post pics anytime! What a gorgeous bird!

I use to own a sun conure. My dad has it now. My new husband wouldn't let me keep the bird. It was like pulling tooth and nail to get him to let me keep the dogs and fish. My sun is very noisy and loves water. It used to love me all the time but now when I visit at my dads it goes out of its way to bite me. They are alot of work especially for a first time bird owner. You will do fine I am sure. They are messy and loud but their love and devotion is worth it! Good luck with your new bird and post pictures soon!

Wow, I never heard of them before, but after reading this thread, I am ready to get one! Birds are SO SMART, and people often underestimate their intellect and their need for stimulation. This is what makes them challenging and fun at the same time. I don't know about Sun conures at all, but my cousin got an African Gray when he (my cousin) was well into his 50's. Since they are so long lived, he is going to have to put Baxter in his will.....I hear Winston Churchill's parrot died just a couple of years ago...

Have fun, and post lots of pics. I am intrigued by birds, as you can probably tell, but I don't have room in my life for one right now.

I have a friend who has conures. They can be very noisy and behave like guard dogs. You can hear the bird a block from the house. They can also be so bonded to one person that they will bite very hard and draw blood when strangers come. They need lots of attention.

Hi, Did you get the sun conure yet? Hope you enjoy it. Yes, we had one and ours was quite vocal

we only have a african grey now and what a talker he is, verry enjoyable. Nice to get them when they are quite young.

I just read this posting and wanted to comment, we never have had any problem with our yorkie and the bird. Our grey grew up with our yorkie Cassie and never ever any problem, we got the largest cage for the grey, with the play gymn on the top, we have an enclosed patio with heat and air, we spend a lot of time there and he enjoys that, so he is quite comfortable. Hello! Sorry it has taken me so long to reply to this thread. We got her a few weeks ago. Everything went fine at first. But as the days went by Gizmo got agressive towards her. He did not want her to be around me at all. And when she would walk around on the floor he would try to play with her. Which would have been fine, but he would try to pounce on her. So now she is at my friends house until we decide what to do. I am just worried about her safety.
