| Britney Spears trying to save herself... "NEW YORK -- Britney Spears, a Louisiana native, will celebrate Mardi Gras in New Orleans later this month when the devastated city hopes to revive some its old partying ways. "I am honored to be a part of the Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans this year," Spears said in a statement Monday. "It is so important for this amazing city to continue its annual traditions and I am really looking forward to being involved." The 24-year-old pop star will appear on ABC's "Good Morning America" on Feb. 28 (7 a.m EST), when the morning show reports live from New Orleans. ABC announced that Spears will bring "surprises for a group of very deserving young residents." The Mardi Gras parade season will run from Feb. 18-28; Fat Tuesday, or Mardi Gras Day, is Feb. 28. Spears grew up in Kentwood, and has participated in fundraisers for victims of Hurricane Katrina." Do ya'll know what is so funny about all of this... this will only be the second Mardi Gras that she has ever attended! The first time she was at Mardi Gras was when she rode on a float in a parade. She had so many body guards you could hardly see her. I was there, she threw autographed pic's of herself off of the float, how tacky! I have seen 26 years of celebrity's at Mardi Gras, never have I seen so many body guards and not one has EVER brought autographed pic's to throw off of the floats! And she calls herself a Louisiana native.... If I see her driving the streets of N.O. without a car seat, I'm calling the cops!

| I can't stand Britney Spears and I am getting so tired of hearing about this whole thing with her son in her lap while she is driving down the freeway or whatever. If that would have been you or me we would have been in jail but since it is Britney Spears she gets all of this publicity for it and she doesn't even get any kind of fine!

| I am still trying to figure out how Britney Spears riding on a float will do anything for Louisiana. Why doesn't she try fixing up a house there? Or speak out about how much help they STILL NEED. She could be a real spokesperson and for Louisiana but she just chooses to embarass herself. |

I agree, she should be here helping fix houses! Shoot, Alec Baldwin and a whole bunch of celebraties came and physically helped build houses and they were not even from Louisiana!

If you listen to the way she speaks, she is an idiot and so is her little boy toy Kevin. She is nothing but the product of some record label. I hope that she saves her money because I don't see either of them going to college and doing anything productive with their lives but making bad music. | |

I completely agree! Instead on singing or whatever. Why not try to do something productive that will help the people out. She could do so much with all that money. Besides print all those pics to throw off the float! LOL And by the way, she deserves to be smacked for having that baby not in a car seat!!! If that would have been anyone else, we would have got slammed with a big fat ticket, and a court date!

| Personally I do not care for Britney Spears or her dead beat husband. I think what she did was very irresponsible and just plain stupid. I like how she said she would protect her child, but all I saw was that she put her child's life in danger. With her being from Louisiana, I would have thought she would want to help her home state, but I guess she is too busy supporting a husband that does not even try to take care of his family IMO. |

Trade in one or two of those cars she keeps buying Kevin, and you'd have a couple of houses built....

| I would almost love to see her lose all of her money and THEN see how long he will stick around. Now that is one of the tests of true love. My mom used to say crap like, "Love don't pay the bills." I would rather have real love than just money and it would really suck to have someone with you just for the money. She bought her own ring for cryin out loud. I wouldn't care if it was a plastic ring, it's the meaning behind it and the proposal is what counts! |
