| I learned that as much as you may love someone and try to help them every way possible sometimes you've just got to move on. I dated a alcoholic/druggie off and on for a year before giving up. He was also a thief, he was sometimes phyisically and emotionally abusive. I'm only 23 mind you and witnessed this at the young age of 19-20. I witnessed him doing weed, crystal, opium. I saw him drink down (in one day) One bottle of whiskey. It was nuts. He even went to a halfway house and still managed to get his hands on some drugs(that's when he started opium). It was one scarey rollercoaster ride. There were times where I'd call him and he'd be throwing up blood, I've seen him fall flat on his face drunk, If I freaked out (which I did often!) he would yank my head back by my hair(while I was driving). Long story short.... I got sick of it and talked to some friends of mine at work. They pointed out that sometimes you've just got to give up. T the day we broke up, he was in my driveway(I lived with my grandma and aunt) and we were talking and he made a sharp movement and I flinched and That was enough for me (something snapped) I ran into the house, sat on my aunts bed shaking and said "HELP, I'M SCARED I CAN'T DO THIS ANYMORE!!!) She went outside and told him to leave and he could barely stand!!!! He stumbled away, and I was waiting for my aunt inside and felt sick to my stomach. I loved him which is the sick part of it. I wish I had never met the man. I'm sorry this is so long but I wanted to let everyone know that if you're ever in a situation like this regardless of how much you think you love the person. GET OUT AND GET OUT NOW. and if you've ever been in a situation like mine, know you're not the only one.

| Yorkie Lover Donating Member | I learned that mom really does know best.....you should take her advise if you don't want to get hurt....I dated this guy who I thought was really cool, he was older and more mature (or at least I thought) than I was and it was my freshman year of college and he was a junior....my mom disliked him from the very beginning, for the longest time I didn't understand why but then one day he suddenly broke up with me and things went downhill really fast and I learned who he really is!!! My mom was right all along, now I try to listen to what she tells me....as I learned that lesson the hard way with a huge heartbreak!!

| Yeah, My boyfriend and I have been dating over a year (One year three months) and Mystep mom hasn't met him yet, but my little brother has. My little brother and I are very close, and he doesn't like him all that much. I ask why and he says "I don't know theres just something about him, he thinks he's better then me. Because he was in the Air Force longer." My boyfriend's never said anything(to my knowledge) to make him feel this way. Just that he was in the Air Force for four years. My brother was in for only a year. My brothers also very protective over his big sis after what happened with the druggie/alcoholic. (he liked him, until he found out the truth). Maybe it's just because he doesn't really know him, they've really never really talked to eachother. My step mom's never met him because she hasen't made any effort to see me in three years and i haven't had the time to go see her. my biological dad's side of the family(that i keep in contact with) really likes him. They hated the druggie/alcoholic, and the one after him that moved away from me while we were together. but they love the one i'm with now.

| I have learned the hard way that choosing your husband over your family when you know you shouldnt can drive a wedge between you and them. |

| Possibly.... anythings possible now in days. It sucked, he even accused me of cheating. Everyone who knows me knows I'm one of the most faithful people there are, My aunt even tried to get me to cheat and would point out men. But I never paid any attention to them. I always told her "I'm with someone and I don't need them."

| I learn everything the hard way! And it scares me to death because my son is the same way! I learned that goofing off in college can haunt you for the rest of your life.
