Everyone is saying it is up to the insurance if they want to discharge me. The same they said at the first hospital. You would think if there is nothing major wrong w me anymore the insurance would want to kick me out so they don't have to pay for this. At least the beds here are a little softer and I sink in a bit more but still not comfy by any means. At least I have one of my own pillows from home. What does AMA mean? |

Am I allowed to do that? Just up and leave? Don't you need to sign out or something? |
Leaving. Yes you can do that, but I would check with your insurer first. They could refuse to cover current or future care for this malady. |

My MIL did that about a year before she passed away and the Insurance did not cover her bill's on that illness, also with her anything that had already been paid they had to pay back on that illness. I pray you get back home soon. Prayers do still continue. |
I agree with the ladies above that signing out AMA may cause problems with your insurance. Press your doctors to release you. Maybe we should start a petition for you. :) Picket outside the facility. I hope you will be sleeping in your own bed at home soon with Uni, Toto, and Liam. |
Some good news, bf came by with Uni and toto and I was allowed to go outside to visit. They are so matted without me! Lol toto seems so skinny. Uni ran to me and gave me kisses for like 3 Secs then was over it. I've seen toto twice already at the other hospital bc bf snuck him in since he's so quiet but Uni is not quiet at all. My nurse agrees with me about being released and has a huge list of questions for my doctor but she said she has not seen him yet, so most likely will leave the questions for the next nurse on the next shift, which sucks bc this nurse is the best one I've had here so far. |
Great news! I'm so happy you got to hang out with both of your pupsters. I hope the really good nurse will be able to talk to your doctors, or that the questions passed along to the next shift. |
Oh I'm so happy you were able to see your babies and GO OUTSIDE. I hope the Doctor will release you so can get back home. |
It sounds like you're improving so fast--that's just great! Such a short while ago it was that I was scolded by the nurse because she saw you moving when I visited!! Where are your new digs? Still way up north? xoxo |

I gotta say, after seeing the extent of what you went through and how bad it truly was - it is just *such* a relief to see you firmly coming back from all of this. Phew! Btw, since you had it once, does it put you at greater risk of ever getting it again? Can you do anything to avoid it? |

I am so sorry to hear of you in a place with the situation you have described. I dont knbow if laws have changed, but if a patient walked out AMA, insurance would not pay the bill....better check into that before walking! I would talk to your attending doctor...show him how well you are doing with your "self managed" physical therapy activity, and tell him what the people from PT told you about not needing them and they would not be back unless you called for them....have him explane all the changes in your treatments/meds/etc since arriving....I would certainly mention being roomed with a MALE patient upon arrival there....mention all the things they are treating you for now, were cleared up in the other hospital. Good luck....FYI...have those PT people come every single time you are scheduled to be seen by them...they will HAVE to come and record how well you are doing and you do not need the therapy sessions...that will help get you out!!! You dont want them saying they did not go back because YOU told them you didnt need them or want them, and they often do just that to lighten their load! You MAKE them do absolutely everything you are supposed to be having/doing, so they can see you are well enough for discharge! |
Visit How comforting to have your babies come in to see you. :). Which pup is the one on your avatar, so cute with the tufty top knot? I feel for you being in a place like you are and feeling you should be home instead. Hoping the nurses and docs can get you discharged soon. Your own bed will feel so great! So sorry that you are prone to another attack, just like in our babies. Do you have to eat a limited diet in the future as well as no alcohol? I wonder if you are off liquids only now and eating more solid food? Hope you will be posting from home very soon. Hugs. |
Does this mean you can come and help decorate my house? :p |
Food! Finally I got solid food. Chicken, carrots, and rice. The chicken was grilled w inion and peppers and luckily mostly dark meat, as I hate white meat. The carrots were gross and just steamed. The rice was dry and hard. But I ate everything. So grateful to have real food. But I've had a headache for three straight days now. My head has been hurting more than my abdomen. They have given me meds for pain but this headache just isn't going away. |

That's Uni in my avatar. She was trying to bite her hair clip off and I got that pic of her. She usually uses her paws to move the clip down towards her face, then once it's in front of her mouth she tries to bite it. It's very funny to watch. |
Food etcetera Hi. Thanks for the info. The good news is you are eating solid food again, Yeh! I am so sorry that they would give you such boring and tasteless food for your first meal. You must have been very hungry to eat it, oh I wish it were a better meal though. Perhaps your bf could bring you in something more palatable? Sorry you have to go on the human Hills ID Prescription- like diet in the future. But I am sure you will be able to come up with tasty meals within the guidelines. Uni is so cute and I loved the explanation for the 'look'! What a charmer! The headache sounds horrible and I hope the pain meds make it better soon. Have you any idea why you are getting this now, or did you get them in the other hospital? You don't need headaches too, so praying that all the symptoms will go away and you can go home and feel good again. Hang in there. Hummus and cucumber on its way :) Hugs |
Three years ago I had kidney failure due to taking Motrin while being dehydrated. I'm thankful to tell you that my kidneys recovered but a side affect was a total loss of interest in alcohol. Now, that was a biggie as I drank wine and brandy. I also loss my appetite for coffee but forced myself to drink coffee as I had just purchased a new Kuerig. Ha ha. Anyway, I have never missed drinking alcohol which really surprises me. I hope you, too, have no problem leaving it forever. Health is the most important thing to have. Hope you get out of there ASAP. |
Thing is for me, it didn't make me lose interest in alcohol. I have to stop drinking alcohol whether I crave it or not. Today I am one month sober. It would have been harder if I had been at home. Bf downgraded to redwine only. But he doesn't have the health issue I do. But we have to quit together. My kidneys are fine thankfully. It's my pancreas and liver that need to recover. My stomach is almost back down to normal. My stomach was no where close to being flat before I got sick but I could still suck it in. I cannot do that now. I was 120 lbs+ before and I am down to 107. I am sure going home and back to regular food I will gain it back. |

Yea for solid food! Oh my gosh, you lost a lot of weight. I'm glad your belly swelling is going down, and that you found out that the patch was giving you the headache. |
Headaches So glad to hear the headaches have now gone. Fancy the BP meds halving that effect? At least it was an easy fix....take the patch off. :) Hope the oral BP meds are easier on you. So now you can concentrate on eating and putting some weight back on and getting fit enough to go home. Hope the meal quality improves! |
Typo correction? Should read....Fancy the BP meds having that effect? ( not halving, LOL!) |
I am so glad you are getting better day by day. . Galen and I send good healing thoughts and puppy kisses xoxox |

Yes I love fish. Finally they gave me a menu to choose what I want. Two times I got the choice of fish. I hope it's not over cooked and dry. But anyway when I get home, I love to make steamed fish with ginger, garlic, scallions, soy sauce on rice. So easy and yummy. |
Just saw this and read twenty some pages, and have been on the edge of my seat! I'm so glad you are doing better, so shocked to hear how sick you were, I've always thought you were so healthy. I'm sure this experience will change your life in many ways, I just want you to know that I'm praying for you and think you are an amazing women! |
