Hmmmmm...how 'bout some miso soup..??? |

There should be a law against a foodie having any illness that prevents them from eating. Not fair! |
Oh miso soup sounds so good! I doubt they have any here though. The nurse brought me a packet of beef and one of veggie broth . I put in the beef first in the hot water and it smelled like cup o noodles but had no flavor so I put in the veggie also. Then it tasted ok. A bit salty but I welcomed it. All I've had for weeks was sweet/bitter meds plus this tube feeding stuff that tastes like the bottom of a bowl of high fiber cereal, yuck. Two doctors came in already today and they said they would advance my diet to all liquids. So I guess that means my choices are no longer limited to broths, jello, soda, etc |

I got lots more for lunch today! Besides broth and jello, I also got coffee, iced tea, ice cream, Italian ice, vanilla pudding, apple juice. I didn't have the coffee, apple juice, iced tea, or pudding. I was actually pretty full after all that. Hopefully tomorrow I can eat more different stuff. |
It sounds like you are doing sooooo much better. At least you are getting a variety of liquids now. Hoping you get to go home soon! |
Oh boy, you are on the road to recovery!!! Congratulations tuff girl!!! You have it made now! That Italian Ice stuff is fabulous!!! When our patients would not eat theirs, the nurses would eat it!! The watermelon flavor is fabulous!! What is the brand name on that stuff??? I was wanting to buy some of it and since I have been retired 2 years, I could not remember the name of the stuff!!!! |
That's awesome P. I haven't had Italian ice in the longest time, that stuff is great. |
It's called Luigi's and I got the lemon flavor twice. I was still full from lunch so for dinner I just had the cream of mushroom soup and a few bites of jello. |

Oh wow Priscilla; it's really good to hear from you. I've been worried but this is such great news. Still a long road ahead but your doing great considering all that you have been through. I will continue keeping you in my thoughts as you continue the long recovery process. So have you had any luck getting those fur babies up for a visit? :D |
Well I have good news and bad news. Good news is on of my doctors told me to go ahead and remove the feeding tube yesterday. He said I could go home. Bad news is the main doctor wanted to send me to another facility for physical therapy. Well they moved me late last night and this is not really a physical therapy place. It's a ghetto run down hospital. They tried to put me in a shared room last night when I was promised a private room. There was an old man in ther talking to himself. That's not going to work. So luckily I complained and there was one room left that just was done being cleaned. The place is run down. The other hospital was sparking bright. I hope I go home in a few days bc I do not like it here. The nurses aren't even giving me the same meds so I'm refusing a lot of it. Most of the meds they are giving me were from when I was really sick that I don't need anymore. |
News Hi. So happy for you that the horrible tubes are gone, what a relief! I hate to hear you have been put in this horrible place now for rehab. You need a nice bright and efficient facility now you are feeling better so you can get really well again. Is there any chance you can talk to someone with the power to get you into a nice place and outta here? Sound like this hospital will not improve your health and healing if the care goes on like this. Praying something changes for the better soon and that you can be home again and feeling good. Warmest wishes. Hugs. Dot :) |
Priscilla, I'm so happy to hear you had the feeding tubes removed, that's great news! I'm so sorry the facility for your physical therapy's not so great! I admit, I'm a little puzzled as to why your doctor sent you there? Is the reason to gain your strength back? Every person's different and God knows you've been through a horrific illness but after my pancreatitis attacks, I felt more comfortable recuperating at home. I'm also sorry the nurses and the doctors aren't on the same page with your meds. Good for you for refusing what you feel you no longer need, I did that too! :D Praying you recover quickly and can be home soon! |

Funny thing is,two ladies with physical therapy came in to check in on me. They did all these tests and said I really don't need to be here. They said I was strong enough and they would only come back if I specifically requested for them to come back. I was cleared for C Diff (which is a bacteria or intestinal infection or something?) back at the nice hospital, but now that I am here they say I still gave it. :roll eyes: but they don't want a stool sample, they want a urine sample. Def something weird going on here. They are not on the same page as the other hospital for sure. Last thing is the main doctor from the other hospital was not even my doctor from the beginning. My original doctor all of a sudden left the hospital for another one. The new doctor didn't come into play until I was already moved out of ICU so he didn't really know my history other than what was on the reports. Which was why the other doctor said I should just go home. And I'm still waiting to meet the doctor here at the new hospital. There's so many people here I can't keep track who is who. And the bathroom doesn't have a shower so how am I supposed to wash my hair and myself? One person was saying they usually patients stay here a minimum of 21 days which is total bullcrap. I was at the other hospital a little under a month and went from almost dead to where I am now. There is NO reason for me to stay here that long. Eta: my leg strength is just fine, and I know I would do fine at home with our three flights of stairs. I have no problem doing stairs now and I can crouch down and get back up without using my hands. I just have issue standing for long periods of time. |
Some of these rehab places are weird. I had c diff from taking antibiotics and took vancomycin for 9 mos before I was cleared. You should insist on a stool sample before you leave. C Diff is a very bad thing. You don't need any more problems. |
I was cleared of c diff when I left the first hospital. I don't believe I have it again. I was also taking vanco. |
I know that I don't need to worry about you speaking up for yourself. Tell them to bust you out of that joint and send you home! Have I mentioned lately how relieved and happy I am that you are on the mend and posting messages? Keep getting better. Looking forward to your zoomies video. :D |

I'm sorry this place doesn't feel as it should, what a bummer...not something you want to have to deal with, ugh. Keep your chin up, and know we're all excited for you to get home too :)! |
