| Had a fright I'll give you the short version. Me and my boyfriend used to rent a brand new appartment before we bought our house. One night while we were asleep 3 men kicked our door down, they had knives and they robbed us, they also beat my boyfriend up and broke his nose We left the appartment that same night and went straight out looking for a house to buy he next day. Anyway early this morning 6.45am I was woken to someone banging very loudly on the door, and I thought it was all happening again it turned out to be a delivery man. But it scared me to death again. I hate that these people have done this to me. Don't see how I can get over it

| I'd feel exactly the same way. I'm so sorry for you! I'll tell you a trick I learned early in life though when I was staying at home alone with a baby - I'd stack canned goods in front of the doors and put crumpled up newspaper under the windows and lock up in my bedroom with babies and the phone. After we had the house through spring - I planted bouganvillas (very thorny) under every window. Never had a problem - but my neighbors did.

| No - that came out long after! But - we had a serial rapist in the neighborhood and I was young, 1st marraige, 1st baby, 1st house in a new state - I really worked at making me feel safe at home alone. (ps - guy was caught 4 mos. later) I hate all these break-ins etc. They have all these Home Invasions down here right now. Gangs of some sort. Really scary. I'm old enough to remember not having to lock your doors....... How stupid was that? But truly, home should be a sacred space and people who break in should get in much more trouble than they do. I'm so sorry for you.

| Wow! That is horrible that happened to you. You are freaked by the least little thing now, which I completely understand. I can really relate to your situation. When I was in high school, our house was robbed--twice by the same people. My cousin brove by and scared them off the first time, but the second time, my dad came home on them and they tried to kill him. Obviously, they went to jail and prison boy is still sending his check to the state to pay my parents back now...12 yrs later! But these were some sick people. They stole pics of me and my sister, did really disgusting things in our bathroom and went though even our underwear. How scary is that that these guys have our pic, know our family sent them to jail, and are out somewhere? Freaked my mom out. She would always come home before dark if there was nobody at the house and would take a gun with her just to let the dogs out! Anyway, long story short, I eventually got less and less afraid. It takes time. But I will tell you this. Yes I have an alarm system in my house, and when I am there alone at night, I have a Glock 40 waiting near by! |
