So speaking of car thieves and my truck that was a thief recovery... somebody decided they needed all the electronics and various tools BUT was nice enough to clean up the glass and put it into my garbage can for me!!! So far the total damage is $6,400 grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

This must be so infuriating! And I suppose your comp deductible is like most, and around $500 or something, so you'll have some out of pocket. So sorry this happened to you! UGH!!!

Ann just seeing this now, happy they caught the guy, you can breathe easier knowing he's off the streets. So many car thieves never get caught, happy this one did.

I don't know how I missed this thread. How awful! I can only imagine how badly my nerves would be shot in your situation. I guess there is comfort to be found in the fact that he's caught.

Good grief, Alisha!!!! I'm so sorry this happened to you guys, too!!! I know tools alone are worth a fortune and so are electronics but wow, that was a huge loss! Car thieves are so slick and sneaky and leave their victims so broken-hearted, it never occurred to me that one of them would rob from someone and then take the time to tidy up after himself!!! What the heck is that all about? Hope you get some of your stuff back like Ann did. Would wish you'd get it all back but I know that's a pipe dream.

Well it's kinda working out in the end, we needed a new paint job and window tint and one of the cables on the backup camera was starting to give us issues and needed replaced so thanks to them we are getting it taken care of now.
As it stands now the truck is getting repainted and the interior next week and hopefully the new radio and tools will be in soon.
Our deductible is $500 but victim services paid our mortgage and electric/ water for two months so that more than made up for the $500 but not quite the amount of lost income because of the truck being out of service that long...... BUT oh well it is what it is and life goes on

I'm really glad to hear that it's at last sort of working out, that's really great! It will look/feel SO fresh and new w/ a new paint job, ya know? I love a freshly painted car, looks so nice!

As for my car....still not a thing about it. As of this coming Sunday, the time runs out to find it...so if it's not found by then, the insurance then does a market valuation of it and cuts us the check. UGH, just want my car back though!!! Darn it.

I was just thinking can a GPS track some of these cars if the person's stolen car has one and it is on? I suppose the robber would turn it off immediately??

Yup, the GPS can work on a car. Unfortunately, my car didn't have that feature. Darn it all.

We are actually looking into a service now to add onto the truck to track it... the monthly fee is not pretty BUT since it is a company truck it might be worth it but if it was my everyday car there is noway I would spend $200 a month for the service!!!

Oh my gosh..in this day and age, that's how much it costs!!?? Wow. I so would've thought it would've been far less! Is Onstar that much too, and/or does it do the same thing I wonder?

I've heard of LoJack and usually you can get the dealer to install it. I don't have it but my mom used to have a car with it. I don't remember it being much bc she's even cheaper than I am.

There are those GPS devices you can put on your own cars, (like how they used them in Breaking Bad) then you track it yourself if the car is stolen.
