Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | What is this holiday, does everyone light up bonfires outside at night? If so, how fun! I bet it's really pretty. Where the holiday originate from in history, I wonder?

| It's to remember the attempted blowing up of parliament !! Guy Fawkes was caught and sentenced to death ! So it's a strange type of celebration. It mainly fireworks but the bonfire is a tradition and an effigy of Guy Fawkes is burned on top of the bonfire. Our little Alfie is terrified of the fireworks, so we are hoping that not many neighbours will be celebrating tonight!

| I have my treacle lollipops cooling as I type, and have my jacket potatoes ready to go in the oven in a few hours. Luckily here stateside I always have a "Guy" for the bonfire right after Halloween..my scarecrow!

Jacket potatoes are just baked in the oven skin-on potatoes. Skin oiled and salted and baked in the oven for over an hour, so the outside is crispy and the inside is mushy goodness. My youngest bonfire night memory is standing around the bonfire at about three years old munching on a tinfoil wrapped jacket potato with neighbours and friends, excitedly waiting for the fireworks.

She also likes thunderstorms. She runs to get her ball so we can play fetch when she hears thunder and when a helicopter flies by she runs to the door and asks to be let out so she can watch it fly low over our home. My silly little puppy!! I hope everyone in the UK had an enjoyable Guy Fawkes night. | |

| When we lived in Kuwait, working for Getty Oil Co., most of the families were British. All the kids used to celebrate "Mischief Night" too, but I cant remember what night that fell on....seems we did Mischief Night rather than Halloween..... |
