| A little bit of advise. Never forget how nice it was of your former employer to hire you back.

Just sent a check to the dental board yesterday to pay the fee due to renew. I am working on my CE's. I added the letter with the check letting them know that once I was done with all my ce's, I would let them know, but that I just wanted to at least get my license out of delinquent status for now. When I called last week they said that if I did that then they would reactivate it with a hold until they are completed. That is better than delinquent. lol I have about 12 ce hours completed as of now and need 25. Doing CPR tomorrow. Once I have that license back current, things will get much easier. LOL I'll get there soon.

| I was thinking about getting a certificate in dental assisting possibly. I've been looking at all my options in the medical field, and I've been suggested dental hygienist by a lot of people but the dental assisting program can be completed in 11 months. Can you explain to me some of the differences between the assistants and hygienists? I know pay is a big one, but as far as touching peoples mouthes! LOL... do dental assistants even really touch a patient in their mouth? I don't think it would particularly bother me but I'm not sure. And before doing the schooling for hygienist school which I know is a lot more time consuming and harder, I am thinking being an assistant would be a better start... foot in the door...

Dental hygiene is a really good career. I don't know where you are, but here the schooling is very competitive to get into the program. I have looked into it but just don't have the time to do it. Some schools give you a little leverage over other applicants for dental hygiene if you are already a registered dental assistant. Not sure if its the same if you are just a DA. Dental Assistants can make decent money if you find the right dr/office. I should have never stopped doing it. Its actually a good job. I did it for 8 years. I realize now looking back that i really did enjoy it. After you finish school, in most states you still have to take an exam to become registered (or certified) whatever is in your state. You can still work as just a DA but make less and can legally do less too. Good news. The place I temped at last week wants me to come back. I work again on Thursday. | Yay, your foot is in the door! How'd you do? I bet it all came back to you easily. I work in a dental/medical clinic and our dental manager was just like you had done it for years, gave it up and came back years later. She's awesome at what she does as I'm sure you are as well.

Yes it all came back to me very quickly. It took about two patients in and I was rocking and rolling. I picked up on their digital x-ray system after one patient. Yes, you can't really forget that stuff. Dr asked me for a certain type of file while doing a root canal and I couldn't remember what it was. He showed me and I was liek... OH ya.. Duh! But I worked my tail off. It is a very busy office. The owner (one of the DR's) told my step sis that I was a huge help and thank her for sending me. I am so glad I have my step sis to help me with getting my foot back in the door because these dr's aren't giving me the time of day on my own with my dental employment gap. Hopefully them wanting me back this week is a good sign. Hopefully they will offer me a couple day position. I'm hoping. Oh ya. My license is now renewed as of today. Just checked on the dental board website. YAY!
