I was thinking about getting a certificate in dental assisting possibly. I've been looking at all my options in the medical field, and I've been suggested dental hygienist by a lot of people but the dental assisting program can be completed in 11 months.

Can you explain to me some of the differences between the assistants and hygienists? I know pay is a big one, but as far as touching peoples mouthes! LOL... do dental assistants even really touch a patient in their mouth? I don't think it would particularly bother me but I'm not sure. And before doing the schooling for hygienist school which I know is a lot more time consuming and harder, I am thinking being an assistant would be a better start... foot in the door...
