Yeah I'm not digging that paper either. |
I can't wait to take my Christmas tree down and put away about 90% of the holiday house decorations. How about the rest of you? How long do you leave decorations and tree up? I do have a few things I enjoy for a while longer, like some of my angel and candle displays, and the rope light palm tree, hehe. |
I want to get my Christmas stuff down and get my house back to normal. I used to get it all down by the 30th because that's my oldest sons birthday and wanted him to feel like it was his special day and not Christmas. But now I relax more and get it done eventually. I guess I get to enjoy Christmas longer this way. But it always feels so good to get it all put away. |

It is strange how after just having extra decor for a few weeks, my regular decor items look so bare. Especially my mantle. The usual stuff looks fine to me all year long, but right after Christmas I miss the greenery and the little fairy lights. It looks so stark right now! |

We usually don't take the decorations down until Jan. 6th. By then I'm sick of them and the house seems so dirty with so many things sitting around on the mantel, tables and hanging on the doors. But, as has been said, once I get everything put away, the house looks so bare and That is why I usually end up going out and buying a large plant to fill an empty space. |

Wow that pulley is awesome! I agree I would paint or do something with the candelabra. The pulley is so weathered looking and doesn't really match the silver. I also love that mirror! |

I love that mirror too! It was a score years ago at Ross, like $25. I somehow *knew* you were going to love that mirror :D. |
Back to my home obsession, holidays are over and all the stuff is packed and waiting for someone to haul it downstairs to the storage room. 2015 Goals, Paint the entire first floor (HUGE project) and new bedroom furniture. I am planning to spend a day at a Bassett store looking, I really like their furniture it is good quality and made in the USA. Another 2015 goal is a new car for me, I have a 2008 SUV that we will keep and I will still drive but I really want a fun little car that I can zip around town in. Sophie Kate and I would look good in a zippy little car. |

I NEED a new sofa (i wish my current sofa would just magically return to its new state). I love the colours and pattern of my current sofa and haven't been able to find anything like it. I miss the days when we had Ethan Allen, and Oscar Rau's in town. They both had gorgeous furniture where youd pick your style and then select the fabric of your choice to wrap it in. I may have to venture much further afield to find a store like that again. |

That is exactly what I did at Bassett with my sectional, chair and ottoman. I shopped for almost 2 years looking for the perfect set, I always liked parts of one set and not other parts. Finally my friend (who shopped with me for those 2 years) forced me to go to Bassett, I picked out everything from the shape of the sectional (arms, pillow back and so on) to the wood used on the legs. It took 4 hours in the store because of course I kept changing my mind but we go it done. Now two years later I still love the furniture in the great room. |
Why don't you just have someone reupholster it? If you love it that much, that's what I would do. I personally hate furniture shopping bc my style is kind of peculiar and I never find anything I like. Plus a lot of furniture store workers are worse than used car salesmen! |
