Personally, I believe that if a person repeats something told to them in confidence, then they can't be trusted.

I didn't repeat a secret, I spoke to someone in confidence, though I didn't say "you better not tell anyone"...I'm 48 I shouldn't have to say that..person then repeated...and so on....I blame myself because obviously if I couldn't keep my own secret how can I expect others to keep it???? Lol, moral of the story...keep things to yourself...I suppose.

I have a co-worker that I think repeats things that I tell her and ask her not to repeat. Needless to say, I don't tell her anything anymore. She is now wondering why I don't talk to her other to say "Hello"....

Having worked Intel, people want to tell secrets, you want people to know or its not fun to keep it secret. The minute you tell someone else, 99.9% it will be all over town in no time at all, the juicer the faster it travels.

I used to interrogate people, get talkative, then say they wouldn't know something as their rank/position was not important enough. The fauset would flow and eventually pour, lol, Ego is a powerful weakness

I don't know though...I think when you consider someone a true friend and are protective of them, you don't really have a real desire to tell their secrets to others. I definitely hold people's secrets when they ask me to. I'm sure there have been times when I've slipped, but I really am willing and able to hold secrets tight when it's needed.

Being somewhat private I prefer to keep a secret, as it is.. a secret. I know some people can't just from the way I see them talk about others.
