Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Any Must Sees in San Diego in April? Hubby has a conference in San Diego in April and I'll be tagging along just for funz and trouble making. I was in SD years ago, but can't remember what I saw / didn't see. Am wondering if there is anything that is a must see. **I don't do zoos or sea worlds or anything like that, though - anything where wild animals are confined is not my thing. Any tips?

| The air and space museum there is spectacular; easily the best I have ever seen, even above the Smithsonian's air and space museum in DC or NASA's museum in the Houston area (though the Saturn V there at NASA is really cool). Last time I was there they had tons of WWI era planes that I had never even heard of, much less seen before (and I practically had Jane's Encyclopedia of Aviation memorized as a kid!). They also had MiG 15s, a MiG 21 with a Navy F-4 in pursuit in the atrium (though I think that display changes). The A-12 they have out front is truly amazing. It's the original version of the SR-71 Blackbird, designed as an attack plane instead of the recon the Blackbird ended up doing when put into service. They also have some cool WWII planes like the P-40. Can't remember if they had anything from the Luftwaffe though. They had some cool space vehicles too. Overall it's probably the most impressive museum I have ever seen, though I like planes a lot more than painting and sculptures.

| The aircraft carrier is worth a visit too. Not only to see all the awesome planes on deck (I recall seeing an F/A-18 Hornet, F-14 Tomcat, A-6 Intruder, F-8 Crusader, E-2C Hawkeye, F-4 Phantom, F-6F Hellcat, and I could swear a MiG-29), but to see the crazy conditions people had to live in on there. I can't imagine serving on one for months at a time, as I had to walk hunched over half the time. Seems like the entire place was built for people no taller than 5'5".

| I like getting cioppino at the fish market right next to the carrier too. Not too bad and pretty convenient if you're in the area.

| You can visit the Star of India sailing vessel which is near the Midway aircraft carrier. Point Loma lighthouse is a must on a clear day. You get a view of the city and if you are lucky you can see migrating whales. Balboa Park is beautiful with the flower gardens and museums. Old Town is fabulous with great shops and wonderful places to eat - mostly Mexican food. At the top of the hill in Old town is The Presidio, where San Diego began. Father Junipero Serra built the first mission there. Lots to see and do in San Diego and all of these places are very close to the downtown area.

| Ditto on Star of India and the Maritime museum! Maritime Museum of San Diego - Little Italy - San Diego, CA | Yelp I really liked this taco shop. Luchadores themed and tacos were great! http://www.yelp.com/biz/lucha-libre-...adores%20Tacos If you have the car, drive up to la Jolla. Not too far. Gorgeous and lots of sea lions. Go to the Sunny Jim cave. http://www.yelp.com/biz/sunny-jim-ca...20Jolla%20cave

| Oh yeah, forgot about Coronado! The whole island is very cute and very dog friendly. I think the beach there in front of Hotel del Coronado is the only dog friendly beach in SD. If you have seen Some Like It Hot (Marilyn Monroe) they filmed it there. The hotel I mean, not the beach. Rooms there are ridiculously priced though.

| Oh no, we have several dog friendly beaches. There is Feista Island and dog beach in Del Mar. These are leash free beaches.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | So this is where we're staying: "Paradise Point- San Diego's Island Resort is a private 44-acre island tucked away on gentle Mission Bay, minutes from the heart of downtown San Diego and adjacent to the famous SeaWorld Adventure Park" So is Mission Bay close / convenient in terms of getting elsewhere, does anyone know?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oooo, looks like there are some wineries not too far away...some of them in Temecula...wonder how far that is.

| The Temeucla's wine tasting is about 1-1/2 hr drive north. There is a tasting room in Rancho Bernardo and that is about 40 mins away.
