People think I'm German when they first meet me, which is strange since I have no German blood and have never even been to Europe.

I have been in Miami tooooo long, I am only 88% Southern. I may test higher if I took the test right after visiting my family in Eastern Tenn...Southwestern Virginia lol

born & raised in NY, Da Bronx, heavy NY accent, and proud of it. Even tho I now live in Pa. and LOVE my new state, I gave up my NY drivers licence, my NY car plates, sorry, I will not give up my NY accent. I worked to hard to perfect it lol.

Inland North 85% and I've lived in the midwest forever. I think midwesterners are void of any kind of accent at all until you go to Chicago where it's like visiting another country (sorry, don't mean to offend any people from Chicago here)

You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."

Never get the Wisconsin question but they if someone does say that I have an accent it's always a "Chicago accent". Like the test says since I'm straight out of the box not sure what that really means.

LOL! Sometimes my dad will slip into his Chicago accent -- which varies of course around Chicago. He will pronounce "town" as "TAO-n." He is originally from Des Moines.

When we first moved to Chicago, we couldn't understand anyone. They talked so fast compared to what we were used to, and it is sort of nasally, or swallowed. We picked it up in no time. :p

It says I'm a midlander. Probably not from the west. I live in Oregon and mostly have lived in the west. Lived in PA and Ohio for a few years and everyone there though we had an accent. :confused:

born and bred on Long Island but have been gone since my 20's my friends still tease me about my New Yawk accent, but truly most of it is gone. Plus I say things like purse instead of pocketbook, pop instead of soda, porch instead of stoop, trash instead of garbage, which my family thinks is funny, especially the pop one. However once in a while I will say something where I can hear the New Yawk come out and that cracks me up. Oh and after a few glasses of wine the New York starts coming out
