| Great post hunniebunnie! you are truly right about the emotional value of a purse or lack of same. And yes, sadly most clothers and accessories are made in China by kids who earn 50c a day - what do you expect? I usually buy designer clothes, but always on sale For the very reason you mention, I still have my personal fit Lewis bought in London in the 90's. I have my calfskin boots from Bruno & Joel that I bought in 1995 and I could go and on! Every year I spend a certain amount on what is in fashion and otherwise I buy classic style outfits. I don't use bag or purse very often, so the ones I have are also really old and designermade. But I would be just as happy with non-designer stuff if it lasted as long Btw I think one of the reasons my designer stuff lasts so long is that I am a jeans and t-shirt girl now, my days as a yippie are over...

| Shana, I think you would make a fortune if you got a industrial sewing machine and designed purses and carriers. I could even give you some of my designes, I wish I had someone to give my many designes to, so they could make them. I don't have a sewing machine, but I know how to use one, if only I had some money to get one . Would you be interested in using some of my designes? |

BTW-My mom is a 'Dooney Girl' and one of my girlfriends called one night and told me to turn on QVC. They were having a Dooney and Burke show and had special pricing. Got a really good deal on Mom's Christmas gift. I don't follow QVC, but evidently they have Dooney specials pretty regularly.

| kewtee... your mention of designer clothing totally reminds me of my husband and his designer suit. 8 years ago he spent (what i thought was an insane amount of money...) $800 on a suit from Versace. It was marked down from $1600, but $800 for a 2 piece suit was still a lot! but sure enuf, 8 years later, he's worn that suit to dozens of weddings, anniversaries, and other social occassions and it still looks as good as new. in fact many compliment him on how well it's tailored to his build. so it was expensive, but it was money well spent! |

| I just got my first Coach and I love it! Everyone calls it my "luggage" because they think it's big, but I couldn't be happier with it! I think my bf got so sick of going into Coach store after Coach store that he got me one! He said that now we can't look at purses for at least a year when we're shopping together. (Yeah right!) I had an fairly expensive purse that I bought at a department store and couldn't believe how soon it looked old and worn. Designer bags are just better-made and a good investment. I have been obsessed with LV for years, but the excitement is really wearing down for me. I personally hate to see girls barely into puberty carrying a bag that cost thousands- for me, a lot of the attraction is gone because of that. (I will admit that I do still check the LV website all the time, though!) I had a friend in college that lived in Manhattan and interned with Coach one summer doing PR. She got a sick discount and (if I remember correctly) could buy more than one bag a month. I am normally a pretty smart spender, but I don't know that I would have had any willpower working there! I can understand how some people can't understand spending hundreds on a purse. However, personally, I can't understand spending sometimes upwards of $7 on a pack of cigarettes, or spending thousands to pimp out a car... A lot of people also wouldn't understand spending $500 or more on a dog (especially yorkies- many of which cost $100 or more per pound!) I say- to each his own- do what makes you happy. |

| Coach purses are the greatest. I have one that is 1-1/2 old. I used it everyday until Christmas when my BF bought me a knew one. The old one still looks brand new. I would to have a LV, bought I think they are little over priced. Plus, I have a friend that has LV and it looks worn after 6 months. I don't think they hold up like Coach purses. My little Rocky has a Juicy Couture pet carrier. |

| Designer bags and rims for my car are my addiction I have a LV Vanity Star Souple that was designed by Sharon Stone, A Burberry pink nova check diaper bag, a Burberry classic nova check "flower pot" bag, 2 Coach hamptons bags (one blue and one a light pink check), a My Flat in London doggie bag, and a black/silver Coach signature hobo bag. All of mine were bought from their respective stores, excluding the Coach hobo which my husband bought at Macys I think, so they are 100% Authentic I LOVE my bags, and to ME, they are worth every penny (just don't ask my husband if he thinks so, lol).
