Anyone wanting support to quit smoking? well I made a decision to quit smoking!! and I have told myself this every new years! So This Time I really mean it! So I thought if I exposed myself as committing to all maybe if someone here also needs the support maybe we can support each other? I recently purchased the Smoke away Kit which I am currently waiting its arrival and will start my mission to become nicotine free and start thinking about my health! Im 57 yrs and would like recover the years I have lost to smoking! I have tried the cold turkey way, but I loose that battle I guess I have been smoking to long?? or maybe just not sincere? But I have heard good things about Smoke away it guarantees in 7 days or your money back! anyone hear of this product or have tried this method? |
I just want to say good luck. I will be joining you in your fight to quit in the next couple weeks. I'm just not quite committed right now. I have never used smoke away, but would love to hear a review from you after you've used it! |
Ive tried it. It gave me stomach aches when I used it. Im gonna try zyban and the patch. Good luck though maybe it will work for you. There could have been something in it that I was sensitive to. |
Well, I think that is a great idea!! I would start with you,but all I can handle right now is tyring to lose the 20 lbs I gained last year. Once that is gone, I will join you.. I know you can do it.. My mother did it two years ago, she is 72 and smoked for 50+ years, If she can do so can you!!! Let me know how the program works!! Good Luck!!! |
Good luck to you...it will be hard but you can do it.... |

:thumbs up thanks everyone! I will let everyone know when I start! gosh chachi that sounds terrible! I did try Zyban but that made me crazy but now that I dont have any children home maybe it was the kids  I might have to try it again, just for back up! I just have to succeed this mission as well as my quest with jaspersmom, I have had a terrible year with a lot of problems and tommorrow morning at 8:30 I will have some closure! I hope this day will make this a very happy new year!! so thank you all for your encouraging words and support!! I'll Be Back... |
Good for you! I do not smoke (never have), but I still want to tell you GOOD LUCK! :) What a great decision you are making. About 14 years ago my mother quit smoking using the patch. Now, let me tell you that my mother smoked since she was a teen (she's 54 now) and she smoked at LEAST 3 packs a day (4 on Friday b/c she played cards). I used to say, "Mom, if you quit smoking, I'll quit biting my nails." Hah!! She'd say, "I'll quite smoking if you quit eating." Ok...guess that didn't work! LOL Anyway, one day she said, "I'm gonna quit." I thought she was kidding. She really wasn't! She got sick of coughing and hacking each morning and getting chronic headaches. I was SOOOO proud of her. She quit and never went back!! I believe that YOU have to want to do this for yourself in order to be successful. You know what I mean? I think it's the same with weight loss and other habits. I wish you all the luck. Your lungs will thank you!!! :D :good job: |

My mother quit using zyban after almost 40 yrs smoking, she quit for over 2 years but started up again. She says she is quitting again next week. As for me I wish you all much luck but will continue to smoke for now..........I don't like the idea of jail nor sanitarium |
Way to go for all of trying to stop smoking .I got a bad awful lung disease and never smoked they say its some sort of allergy related diease and i have fibrosis which is not reversable last year i spent most of the year on oxygen 24 /7 and i can tell you now you dont want this so stopping smoking is a good thing a great thing even its the gift of life you may be giving yourself and those you love .Lung disease kills more than breast cancer .I saw my father die from lung cancer it isnt pretty so i am so glad for you with the decission to stop ..it takes courage to live .. In lovenlight Deb |
ok im ready to start with you, i bought the nicotine gum and am gonna try this i think tomorrow, i have a few cigs left and thats it.. i hope i can do it. i dont think i can...i need help tooo....this is such a terrible addiction. i hate it. i wish i never started duh! |
ooooo....I'll join you and be your support!! I did not make it my resolution because I never go thru with them but I am cutting down right now. I can't stop cold turkey cuz I've tried. I'm trying to smoke 4 cigs a day (which is a huge cut down for me) and then slowly by week less and less. I don't smoke around Zoe unless we're in a huge area so that alone is my motivation. I don't want my baby exposed to second hand. Good Luck and lets do this together! |
I would be happy to offer support to any of you. Just name it. I'll do what I can to help. I've been cig free for about 5 yrs. I smoked heavily for 10. So if there is a will there's a way. Good luck! |
I wish you nothing but the best of luck. I try every year. I can't do cold turkey but I know I can cut way back. I want to go down to maybe 4 a day. Then work on getting rid of that. |

Thank you yorkieRini! You will be our inspiration! 5 years thats is so encouraging.. cchu , Lexi Rae way to go! :yelrotflm anytime anyone is ready to try just jump in! and we will all be here supporting each other when we are having the hebbie jeebies  if we slip we just try try again, no shame here! no criticism! just support! encouragement, and the incentive to rid ourselves of this nasty nasty habit that is no longer socially accepted! So when you start even before I get my Start kit please download the quit keeper it will help us! Good Luck to us all!! Here is a link to get a quit keeper It is a free program and user friendly! Quit Keeper is a quit meter that can track a variety of statistics associated with your quit. It can track your quit time, the number of cigarettes you haven't smoked, the money you have saved and the life that you have saved. Many quit meters track these stats but Quit Keeper goes further - it can also track your anniversaries i.e. 1 week, 2 month, 200 days and also the anniversaries of your friends/buddies. One unique feature of Quit Keeper is it's ability to track the changes in price of cigarettes - so if the price of cigarettes goes up, you can enter that new price into Quit Keeper and it will update it's money saved statistic. http://www.dedicateddesigns.com/qk/faq.htm |

Stop smoking now! I am not an avid stop smoking crazy person. But I do strongly recomend one think about the future if you expect to be around. Don't do as I did...listen up! You just may not be as lucky as I am. I am back to doing everything I did before the heart issues. I feel great! But again....listen up. That next cigarette could be your last...and I mean that literally. It could be the last thing you ever do! |
I don't smoke (I used to smoke socially with a drink but quit that too), but I thought telling you this story might get more of you to quit. My father has smoked since he was in his late teens, making it over 35 years of smoking. He was super healthy until he collapsed last year. He had 2 heartattacks within 6 hours of each other. We almost lost him. He ate right, excercised and everything. The doctors told him that the smoking had done so much damage inside his body, that the next cigarette is his death wish. He has quit for over a year. He did it cold turkey and recently has been craving them again but my mom immediately got him the patch. I still consider him too young to have had a heartattack, at only 57. PLEASE quit, it's not because we're trying to be pushy but do it for your kids, your furbabies, your spouses, parents, siblings, ect. You don't want to be responsible for them going through the heart ache of you being sick or worse yet death (God Forbid). I thank God everyday that he helped my dad stay alive, so please quit now because it does catch up to you, no matter if you're 20 or 50. It all builds up. Sorry for the lecture and I hope it didn't seem that way, but I had to tell my story to all the people who think it's a crock when people say smoking isn't good for you. I'm very proud and so are your families, of those who are committing to quiting. It is a drug and is an addiction and is very hard, but you have to do it for you. |
