I am 46 and me and my husband quit almost 3 years ago. I quit cold turkey, but he took Zyban. Our doctor told him if he was serious about quitting then this mild anti anxiety pill would work. I could not believe it. I had tried to quit unsucessfully about 4 differant times because my husband would start up again and I couldn't stand to see him smoking so I would start up again. When he started taking the Zyban it calmed him down enough to quit for good. If we can quit so can you. Don't give up |
ok my friends, first day without smoking... i am now chewing the gum, i want one so so bad right now i cant take it...im at work and its so tough...help! |

My FIL is laying in ICU right now with lung cancer. Went in on Wednesday. He's been in and out of the hospital so many times during 2005 that I've lost count. Hard to say it, but I honestly don't think he will make it through 2006. He's in his early 70s and has smoked since his teens. Cancer is a HORRIBLE disease. My hat is off to all of you who are trying to quit. Good luck, and if you need another cheerleader, let me know. |

. Stop smoking now! I am not an avid stop smoking crazy person. But I do strongly recomend one think about the future if you expect to be around. Don't do as I did...listen up! You just may not be as lucky as I am. I am back to doing everything I did before the heart issues. I feel great! But again....listen up. That next cigarette could be your last...and I mean that literally. It could be the last thing you ever do! Wow, This really hits home with me because of my recent heart attack at 46yrs old. I have 2 children one 16 and one 18 and my 2 pups to think about too. I really HAVE to quit! Thanks for the post. |

we will be cutting back and fighting back, I think the whole Idea is trying to detox and rid our bodies of nicotine and that in itself is not so easy! So my point is Dont beat yourself up because you had a smoke! theres always the next day  wow I just scared myself. Im going to keep my pack around thinking that If they are available and within my reach I might not want them, otherwise I would most likely buy another pack.. so hang in there! |
hi jbaril. are you using anything to help you quit? sorry abot no caps in my typing, im hoding bella in one hand lol |
you are so right... if i have a pack i can control the urge, but if i dont have a pack i crave for a ciggy... thats sick huh?,, i smoked 2xtoday but only 2 drags of a ciggy then threw it out... |

DO NOT KEEP THE CIGS HANDY. By that I mean set a rule NOW. No smoking in the house. Keep the cigs as far away as possible. i.e. keep cigs in your vehicle while you are working or at home. Do not make it easy to REACH that cig when you are on the phone or on the computer. Make it somewhat difficult to get a cig. In other words you have to make a effort to get up and to get the cig.......hopefully you will "think" before lighting up. IF you manage to reduce the cigarettes to just a few a day you will find it increasing more difficult to light up. As the cigarette "smell" leaves your body....the new addition of cigarette smoke will become too strong. I know it made me sick to my stomach. Then I suffered my heart problems and there was no more kidding around.....it was cold turkey! But each person must make up their own mind to do this. |
You Go all that are trying I know youll do this beacause it takes willingness and you all seem so willing to change your mind about smoking "If you had to spend one day without being able to breath you would be so not smoking " SO ..Big big Hugs to all of you from me ...Iknow your worth it and i also know addictions can be a tuff thing but its not bigger than you . I want to quit but haven't put forth the effort lately. I got hypmotised(spell check) and quit for 4 months last year until June and started again. I blame or make excuses for myself STRESS. I own a business and the STRESS is unreal at times. I Have been sick and I know I need to quit so maybe this would help. To bad we couldn't have a chat time each week or a support link on our board to go to. It would be healthier for the babies, not breathing it in!!!! |
Well, as I mentioned earlier I recived the smoke away Kit, and I must admit my first whining! I knew what was in the box and knew when I open that box I was committed and had to start now no more talking  this was it!! So after reading all about the program it sounds pretty darn good! 7 days smoke free  money back promise! In the kit was a audio support CD formula 1 anti-toxins formula 2 stop the urges from coming back and a homeopathic medicine that you place under your tongue when you have a crave to light up. So tonight I take 4 pills and tommorrow morning no more Ciggy's! this is it! so I downloaded my quitmeter to start my program tomorrow! so Here goes something!! |
Good Luck Jbarile!!!!!!!!!!!1  |

Hello all I wish you Luck in trying . I guess I'm here to join in. I am 45 and I started smoking at age 17 The only time I have quit is when I was pregnant. Lately I have gave a lot of thought to stop smoking and I do this every year, But this year its been different Its been on my mind day and Night. I do love my cigs But not more then My life. Last week my daughters ex boyfriends mother died . Her lungs Collapsed.........My daughter called me and said Mom please don't do this to me. Well those words have really stuck with me and I have been thinking how many times has my Hubby and children asked me to quit and yet I still lit up. Well I do get short of breath and I have tried to quit before only to end up smoking more. This has really been heavy on my mind and Yes im going to quit I have took my last pack and spreaded it out to last me a few days And Today I'm with out one. and yes its so hard. and no im not going back. I'm headed the right way and I dare to turn around. I want to be here for my children , I want to grow old with my Hubby . I want to watch my Grandchildren come into the world and watch them grow. I want to be here for my Yorkies. My family is my world . So why Have I given it to these nasty cigs? I have asked myself that over and over and today. I walk away from them and Plan to live as long as I can and as healthy as I can. I also wanted to say. Today my son is also quiting and My mom called and she to is quiting and My sister is going to try too. wow why didnt we do this a long time ago? They all said if you can then we are too. |
