| Can you beat this!!??%**%%!! I just started a new job (this week makes it 2weeks and 2days). I will be replacing some one who is retiring (and sounds like now having many second thoughts). Well she is taking a weeks vacation starting next week.....and had the audacity to suggest to one of the bosses that I take the week off as well...and of course she added that she wasn't sure if it would be without pay (and most likely of course it would be with out pay). Where did she get the nerve?????. She used the excuse that some of the work we were waiting dd not come in. Well I am a full time employee and I get paid for 52 weeks of the year. I told her that I didn't think that taking a week off from work just because she would not be in is not a good idea. I also said to her "what did you both just plan this with out me knowing about it or being involved in the conversation"? I also told her that I would discuss it with the bosses on Monday. One of the bosses told me about a week ago not to listen to any thing she says and that one lady worked one day and quit cause of what she told her about the hours she would have to work. She is not my boss I am her equal and will be replacing her. Any suggestions on how I should approach this subject when I talk to the boss on Monday? If he tells me to take the week without pay I will be soooooo pi*s*ed off. One thing I will have to ask him is for some work to do...they must have more work cause the work I was waiting for was not that much but would have taken me longer to do cause I am new. I am soo PO'ed that I bought a bag of candy kisses...oooooohhh noooo! Let me know what you think I should say to the boss...I was thinking of telling him that she is giving me a bad time and thinking of staying at work longer than her retirement date. and that I think she has a problem.....cause I do. Tina

| you have to have the reasons why you need to be present.......things n tasks that have to be done because of deadlines or weekly commitments. prepare a list of things so when discussing you don't forget important details. i wouldn't mention a bad time from her at all unless he hints that feeling and then still you must tread very lightly with words. saying negative even in the most positive way has proved not so good imo. best to set that aside and use hard facts of work load needing to get done and go that direction...show why ur the asset.

| I would become very clear about exactly WHO my boss was, talk with that person only, and ignore the rest! Hope it works out well for you.

| [QUOTE=yorkiemini;4311099]I would become very clear about exactly WHO my boss was, talk with that person only, and ignore the rest! Hope it works out well for you.[/Q Thanks I think you are right and that is what I am going to do on Monday. That is the reason why I didn't listen to her suggestion to take the week off (I really don't know how that would go over with either of the bosses and I think one of them would be very disappointed if I had....if I am wrong we will see). The boss that hired me told me I get paid 52 weeks out of the year and not to listen to anything the other lady says (except for the work I am doing that she gives me to do). So I made a point of saying-to her that in my behalf I will speak with the boss directly (she wanted to send an email to one of the bosses on Friday) I told her that "if she felt that it was her responsibility to email them about me coming in next week that I can not stop her. But that in my behalf I will speak to the boss directly on Monday regarding work for the week". I think she got the message and did not email either of them ( I have 2 bosses). I stayed on friendly terms all day Thursday and Friday but when I was leaving on Friday I could tell she was very distraught...she was starting to say that she might not go on vacation (just crying the blues same as about the fact that she is supposed to be retiring) . She is nutty, lol. Tina

| Just wanted to up date you.....every thing worked out fine. The boss reassured me that I am here to stay and at first he was a little concerned that I might leave but I assured him I had no intentions of leaving.. So it is just a matter of time before she leaves....I am not sure how they will arrange that cause she is like attached to her desk, lol. In time I guess. Thanks for your help. Tina
