Y'all are starving me! I was planning on teriyaki chicken for dinner tonight, but I may just hit the store again for some ribs. My brother is a grill master, and he taught me how to make my own dry rubs, with the spices depending on the meat. It's a lot of fun to experiment with different flavors. If I'm in a rush, my fallback is Paul Prudhomme's Meat Magic, and plain old Kraft Original sauce. |

I get baby back ribs, but you can use spare ribs too if you want. I remove the film on the underside of the ribs (optional), season it how you like. I put salt, pepper, bit of cumin, bit of oil (just a tiny bit bc the ribs are fatty anyway). Put in a roasting pan, put enough water just to cover the bottom with about 1/2". I also put in whole garlic cloves too. Cover tightly with foil and bake for about 2 1/2 to 3 hours or until they are about to fall off the bone and most the fat is rendered. By then I go and smash the garlic into the meat. Also the remaining water and rendered fat you can use to baste the ribs as you go it you wish. You can also put on the bbq sauce now, or leave them dry to put on the grill, then put bbq sauce after you pull them off, or serve on the side. |
My husband cooks them in the oven at 250 for 8 hrs with sweet baby rays bq sauce wrapped in foil and they fall off the bone they are so tender. |

I know right? I picked up a few bottles last trip to get home improvement supplies. I've used the grill masters before. I'm glad, I have a date at the japenese steak house tonight. Or we would be having ribs! |

Hmm ok- That is true, I don’t think my crockpot will fit all the ribs I need! Maybe I will try the oven- Like I said I only cooked them one time and that was on the grill. So you don’t put the bbq sauce on the meat when they are cooking in the oven? You put it on after? |

I love ribs in the crockpot the meat gets so tender it just falls off the bone. You have to cook them for 8 hours on low heat and drench them in bq sauce. I like sweet baby rays and the jack Daniels sauce. So try one now and the other later |
You all have me so darn hungry now. I do mine pretty much like capt noonie. Season/dry rub, place in a roasting pan but instead of water in pan I use apple juice to give a little sweet fruity flavor, cover tightly with foil; 350 degrees for 2-3 hrs. Then uncover coat with Sweet Baby Rays (I like the spicy one), and put under broiler for a few minutes to firm up sauce. It is crazy good. |
Dang it...now I want some jerk ribs....I cook them the same way as capt noonie, but instead of bbq sauce, I use jerk seasoning....yuuuuuummmmmyyyy!!!!! ok, heading for the store now!! Sort of a take off on jerk pork... |

In the oven, you can't start it with sauce bc it will end up burning. Put it on near the end. Quote:

I love bbq. I want to be a vegan, but I love pork bbq too much!! We had baby back ribs this past week end (when ever my dd visits I have to do southern bbq for her) I cook them in the over sealed in foul with sweet baby rays bbq sause... on low for about 3 hours or more. Then we put them on the grill and finish. I sometimes make a mustard based sauce.... omg it is good. I also have to make baked beans and banana pudding to go with:) |
