Well, today begins CNN HLN's marathon coverage of: VERDICT WATCH - dun dun dun!

I'm glad they're covering it so well...but isn't it also pretty insane as to the extent they're covering it? It goes from 9am-10pm here in AZ. What on earth will the network DO when the trial is over?

I was thinking about that this morning...HLN has made this such a big deal. I guess the world is not lacking in kooks...they will find someone to report on.

How long do you all think they will take to come up with a verdict. I'm thinking this Friday??? Wishful thinking?

I hope you are right! A quick and firm message to any other Jodi's and potential male counterparts might cause one or more to give their murderous thoughts a backseat to thoughts of the needle and those last moments of a condemned killer!

Right!!?? I mean they must be pulling in serious ratings to have made their entire day's programming about that, and only that. And to top it off, they added that one new show "HLN After Dark" - JUST for the Jodi trial! Seriously, ya know? That show is pretty lame, imo, bc of the fake jury and all....I mean, come on. Nancy Grace is okay at times, but she is such an egomaniac that sometimes I just can't deal with watching her ego stroke itself for a full dang hour. I do like Dr. Drew bc I think he has the most interesting commentators and he lets the convo happen (unlike Grace).

I cannot decide!!! I have a feeling it will either be this Thursday...or...it will go way into next week and possibly beyond (signaling, potentially hung).

I was on a hung jury and we easily deliberated for about 5 days -- and it was a rape case (rape of a minor girl by an adult male). I can't even imagine what it would be like heading toward a 'hung' possibility on a MURDER trial...my gosh, I could see that type of deliberation going on for 3 weeks easily!

What has happened to Nancy Grace these last few years? That schtick of attacking her guest commentators and utterly humiliating many of them at times - gets old in 30 seconds. She used to be more professional and straight forward, less of some kind of egomaniacal small-town talk show host. I can't believe those guest commentators want face time so badly they would put up with that. She has become a joke to so many. I used to enjoy her show before she changed.

I just heart on television that the defense tried to make a deal of first degree murder, life in prison with no possibility of parole, and the state rejected it. With a cost of over 2 million, so far to, the state, if they don’t get the death penalty, I think the state will be severely criticized for not taking the deal.

Hmm. Interesting to hear. Wonder why the State didn't go for the please - too easy a sentence after looking at those wounds? Any idea how much the victim's family has to say about this decision in AZ?

Well, I just heard that Jodi Arias represented herself through a petition to the court at one time, and then Nurmi and another appointed atty. talked her out of it. No limits on this woman's ego.

Sometimes, I think these decisions are more about careers being made, color me cynical. ;)


The story behind her being her own attorney is a little more involved. She had produced some letters that Travis had allegedly written, where he admits being a pedophile, and her attorney quit. The letters were rejected by the court as being fraudulent; they weren’t in Travis’ handwriting. After the letters were thrown out as evidence, Jodi asked for Nurmi back.

Sometimes, I think Jodi biggest mistake is believing that she was way smarter than she really is. Because she thought she was smarter than Einstein, she didn't look for any flaws in her plan. Nurmi's argument was if she's so smart, why did she make these stupid mistakes. I don’t think Jodi is a very logical thinker, she was just able to outsmart her mom and dad, and she thought she could outsmart everyone else. Lordy, I hope she’s wrong on that!

I wonder if Travis Alexander's parents are alive and they had any say in whether or not the State sought the death penalty in this case or it was just the State. I'd say if any case deserves the ultimate penalty, this type of slaughter does, especially with so much evidence for premeditation. And plenty of times during that killing she could have stopped but she kept at it, stabbing, slashing and shooting. People get charged with the death penalty for a single gunshot or stab wound every day so I imagine the State felt they could not excuse little Miss Jodi Arias from it and plead her out - they almost had to go for broke. And after the costs of this trial, AZ does have a dent in its bank account.

This nutcase even created fraudulent letter from Travis??? Oh, my. She is seriously dented in way more ways than I imagined.

Just learned Jodi's art is fake, I guess much of it is just traced from magazine ads, what were the magazines subscriptions LaViolette bought Jodi? She could just be that good. Some people are just born with the ability to draw almost exactly what they see, no training needed nor does training help. At one point I could have come very close to that kind of a freehand copy and I didn't have the talent of so many. My sister could freehand sketch almost exact copies, too. I used to draw ladies and model's faces from magazines when I was in my late teens, trying to get near perfect copies just for the enjoyment of seeing how exact I could be. But it's boring as you get older! After a while, you move on to other things and sketch real life. But being Jodi Arias - these are likely lies just like everything else! She probably did basically trace them if her paper is thin enough or she's very strong back-lighting under the original and her paper.

I saw something on Twitter about her sketch of Liz Taylor but when I clicked on it, couldn't see any sketch of Liz - just a nondescript woman's face. Her artwork is quite technical in nature and cold. Looks computer generated or something. It doesn't really have a natural flow to it somehow. Still, some do naturally draw that way but it's off-putting. Seems to have absolutely no emotion to it.
