This is a very touching and sad forward that I received via e-mail. Right now I have tears streaming down my face and I copy and paste it.

I know it may be difficuilt to read but I felt compelled to share it.

My name is Sarah
I am but three,
My eyes are swollen
I cannot see,

I must be stupid,
I must be bad,
What else could have made
My daddy so mad?

I wish I were better,
I wish I weren't ugly,
Then maybe my Mommy
Would still want to hug me.

I can't speak at all,
I can't do a wrong
Or else I'm locked up
All the day long.

When I awake
I'm all alone
The house is dark
My folks aren't home.

When my Mommy does come
I'll try and be nice,
So maybe I'll get just
One whipping tonight.

Don't make a sound!
I just heard a car
My daddy is back
From Charlie's Bar.

I hear him curse
My name he calls
I press myself
Against the wall.

I try and hide
From his evil eyes
I'm so afraid now
I'm starting to cry.

He finds me weeping
He shouts ugly words,
He says its my fault
That he suffers at work.

He slaps me and hits me
And yells at me more,
I finally get free
And I run for the door.

He's already locked it
And I start to bawl,
He takes me and throws me
Against the hard wall.

I fall to the floor
With my bones nearly broken,
And my daddy continues
With more bad words spoken.

"I'm sorry!", I scream
But its now much too late
His face has been twisted
Into unimaginable hate.

The hurt and the pain
Again and again
Oh please God, have mercy!
Oh please let it end!

And he finally stops
And heads for the door,
While I lay there motionless
Sprawled on the floor.

My name is Sarah
And I am but three,
Tonight my daddy
Murdered me.

There are thousands of kids out there just like Sarah. And you can help.

It sickens me to my soul and if you just read this and don't pass it on I pray for your forgiveness because you would have to be one heartless person to not be affected by this email. But if you are affected, do something about it!! So all I am asking you to do is take some time to send this on and acknowledge that this stuff does happen and that people like her dad do live in our society -- and pray for child abuse to wither out and die but also pray for the safety of our youth.

Please pass this poem on as a Blue Ribbon Against Child Abuse because as crazy as it might sound, it might just indirectly change a life.

Please forward this to someone if you are AGAINST CHILD ABUSE

It's been a few years since I last read this and it gets me every time.

Child abuse is very real in our country. There needs to be stricter laws to those people that abuse children...the innocent ones that can't defend themselves. This sickens me to no end. Who will speak up for these children???

Then you have these parents that murder their own flesh and blood, serve a year or two and are back out on the streets??? WTF is wrong with our society????

Child abuse is one thing I CANNOT comprehend! NO MERCY for the abusers and killers...NONE!

I agree with you 1000000%! NO MERCY for anyone who would harm an innocent, HELPLESS child. The laws are no where close to as strict as they should be. These abusive, awful people who don't deserve the title "Mother" and "Father" are let out of jail after such a short period of time. It makes my skin crawl!

What else REALLY pisses me off is when you hear of a mother or father who lost custody of 1 or 2 of their children, then got custody back only to hurt their children again even worse then the first time! What is WRONG with the legal system? It simply baffles me.

Thank you so much...sarcasm. I could have gone my whole life without reading that and been perfectly happy. Thanks...now I have to wait another 2 hours before I can go home and hug and kiss my daughter. Merry Christmas to you too.

I agree! The legal system is FU**** up big time! I don't care if there is something mentally wrong with mothers and fathers that kill their children...Susan Smith and those other ones...death penalty! I'm a firm believer in it and I think we should use it more!

That is so sad, yet in so many kids lives, so true..
I get so mad when I talk about kids or raising kids,and people say " what do you know YOU dont have kids." I then say " BUt, I was raised very well with good parents, and know right from wrong,, and There are PLENTY of people that have kids that DON'T know how to raise them,, having a child doesn't make one a good parent." Child abuse reminds me of that, often.

So true, so true...I will say that as a parent I have tried to be welcome of all suggestions regarding raising a child...parent or no parent. You never know what helpful info you may get from someone who has traveled the road before you. Just because you listen to advice doesn't mean you have to take it. You can tell a difference between those genuinely trying to help and the people who think they know it all and think their way is always the best.

Like my mother in law, who let her other grandchild drink Milo's tea out of a bottle at a little over one but couldn't understand why she never wanted to sleep. And told us she didn't see any reason why Taylor couldn't have any!!!

She was very insistant this one instance that we let her have some and then got her feelings all hurt and cried and tried to make it look like we were mean to her when we refused. Geez woman!....oops, I am ranting!

That is sooo sad, it sent chills up and down my spine. Unfortunately, too, all to real. It happens every day.

My husband always laughs at me because I am always hugging and kissing on my son. He says I baby him too much. After reading this, I see no reason to stop. Showing your children love is the best thing you can do for them. It kills me that not all children are that fortunate.

in the uk there is no death penalty, there should be for child abusers and murderers, when i read anything like this it makes me sick to my tummy.
a friend of mine is a child social worker and told me that child abusers normally abuse animals as well. its all down to power the sick mother f#####s they should rot in hell

I'm there with you...I used to work with a "Child Advocacy Fund."..and quite frankly...I had to quit after one year....the stories of these children...and what their "loved ones" did to them made me so angry inside....I became ill.

They're lucky I'm Christian....because the barrel of a 357 magnum would be the last thing that saw on this earth, if I wasn't.

Francie you are so right! I am reading your response and am practically tearing up. My son hugs me and kisses me and when I get ready to go out he tells me I look beautiful. He is empathetic to others and looks out for the smaller kids in the park. I can't help but think that these feelings and actions are a result of the love he receives at home. I know when my son is older he will have respect for women and understand what it means to love and care.

I wish we could bring every abused child into our home and give them what we give him!
