| ![]() Geez Villette...11 !?! I don't even think I knew how to work a lighter when I was 11. I did go through a stint a couple of years ago...guess I was about 22 or 23, when I picked it up again for a short time, about 3-4 months I guess. I mean heavier than before...1+ packs per day. I was under stress at work, was living w/ my child & husband at with my parents...our marriage was new and not looking very good, plus I had a baby under 1 year old. It made me feel better and calmed my nerves, but it got to where very few people...the ones at work and a few friends, knew I smoked. I constantly panicked about someone letting it slip to my husband of family. I constantly looked around and in my rear view mirror to see if anyone I knew was around. And I would always have an errand to run at night...just to get out and smoke. Then I'd have to spray down with perfume and get gum and pray nobody would notice. Not very convenient. I would rather have kept it a secret than get lectures and guilt trips from everybody else. |

| ![]() Go to the library and check out some books on the effects of smoking. By the time you sit there and look at all of the pics of what it does to your body and read all of the horror stories, you may still want a cigarette; but you won't be so eager to pick one up! ![]()

| ![]() Ah yes...the car was the worst part. I remember that all too well. I would dread going places that took longer than 10 minutes. I would leave my ID at home so I couldn't stop and get them. The worst part was...I have never been one to eat lunch at work, not sure why...but having that hour of being bored to have to occupy yourself....horrible! I don't have to worry about it now, even if I suddenly get that urge...my child is usually with me...don't want to smoke around her...plus, she has a very big mouth. ![]() |

| ![]() You used both? That would be good. My husband had an angina attach and was told to quit or die. Well, that was enough for him. Me, I made it a month and then lit up. I am going for it right after Christmas. I am nasty enough right now. I don't want to add to it with not smoking. He is doing great by the way. |

Started around 14 years old. I want to quit for my health, but dont want to, KWIM? Tried quitting several times. When I was pregnant with 1st son I cut down from a pack a day to 3 a day. Second son, it totally made me sick, so I had no problem quitting cold. But started up again a few weeks after his birth and am still smoking, but trying to quit for this new pregnancy. My brand at first was Marlboro reds till I got pregnant. Then I have been on Marlboro Ultra lights 100's since! I used to smoke up to 2 packs a day back when I was trying to be cool in my teens. After few years and grew up I went to about a pack a day. Now its less then half a pack unless I go out to Bingo or the bar, then its a pack. Best of luck to you. Fight the feeling girl!

| ![]() For quitters: How old were you when you started?: about 18 How long did you smoke?: 2-3 years What made you want to quit?: Health reasons & I always said I would quit if/when I got pregnant & I actually had my last cig about 6wks before I got pregnant. ( I didn't know I was gonna get preggo either, cause we weren't trying, so maybe that was God helping me out! ![]() What brand did you smoke?: Marlboro Menthol Lights Approx how many per day?:5-6 (more if drinking) Do you still think about smoking? How often?: Yes, about once a week when I'm stressed or bored. Its still hard in the car or if I'm really bored or if I'm w/ people that are smoking (that's the hardest!). Good Luck, girl!!! Its very hard, but definatly worth it!! Its still hard & I haven't smoked in about 18 months!

| ![]() How old were you when you started?: 16 How long did you smoke?: until I was 22 What made you want to quit?: I got married and my fiance (now hubby) hates the smell of it What brand did you smoke?: Camel light, menthols were my fave Approx how many per day?: 8-10 Do you still think about smoking? How often?: Now, mostly when I drink or when I get really pissed off or stressed out. I quit cold turkey (the best way to go, imo) in December of 2002. It was REALLY hard but I substituted things like coffee and candy when I had cravings. I broke down a time or two after I'd quit for at least a month.....and every time I'd let myself have like half a cigarete or whatever I justified.....it just wasn't the same. I still haven't found any vice to take it's place but I'm SO GLAD that I quit and I'm so much healthier and better off because of it! GOOD LUCK! YOU CAN DO IT!
