Great on crossposting this! Because of doing rescue this is how I found out about Ebay's plans. I know there are other members who do rescue and hopefully they are sending it on also. Please feel free to use any and all of my posts. The more people that know the more we can impact this situation. I would also make sure you post the sign the petition link also. Thanks for your help in getting the word out.

| When I tried to go to the ebay site to express my feelings, it said "site not found" -- don't know if it's my computer or if the site is no longer there. I was able to sign the petition, though. Which I did. |

| Well I had high hopes that Ebay had pulled the thread because they got the message but I just went in and people can still post. I am not sure why it has changed or why the link didn't work but here it is again. Thanks everyone for sending the message. http://forums.ebay.com/db1/thread.js...=1135019648803

| I got an email back from ebay: Here it is: Thanks for getting in touch with me to share your views regarding new services we're considering to bring sellers and buyers of pets together. It's clear that our members see a strong distinction between pet adoption (e.g., the kind offered by responsible local shelters and advocated by leading animal welfare organizations) and selling pets for profit, which unfortunately can be associated with behavior that's inhumane and/or illegal. I want you to know that we at eBay.com understand and agree with this distinction. Based on responses from members like you - including many animal welfare professionals -- we're going to exclude commercial breeders and for-profit sale of pets from further consideration. Instead, we'll focus the discussion on listings of available rescue animals from vetted local shelters to support responsible pet adoption. It's clear that we need to proceed very carefully. As our plans take shape, we'll again ask for input from our community. In the meantime, thanks for sharing your views with us. Sincerely, Lori What you all think? |

| I really hope it's true that they're going to completely extinguish the idea of allowing commercial breeders to sell on their site. That would be detrimental, and would allow millers to thrive even more! I can't believe I didn't see this thread earlier.

I got the same letter and I responded back to them that Ebay needs to stay out of living animals all together. The only thing I would endorse is if they offered a free link to Petfinder (Period). Almost all of the national rescue's are already linked to Petfinder so I do not see this as a problem. I do not see Ebay checking out who is legit and who is not and again I think some really bad people will start coming in through the back door. I think if they want to do a good deed then they need to endorse the places that already know how to do this such as Petfinder. One of the ebayers last night showed pictures of dogs for sale in China on ebay. I won't go into the fur trading industry in China but it is beyond cruel and Ebay needs to stay the course of no live animals for sale on Ebay.

| I got the same e-mail back from Ebay. I'm so glad that they decided against it. So glad to see that they listen to people who e-mail them too. Nice to see a place doing that. Praise be to God! |
