Still pretty calm in Boston , local news showing pictures of the ocean.. it looks MEAN

I can hear the wind whipping down the creek... I'm afraid to look to see if the boat is still there, lol. Driving rain. News is pissing me off, they keep saying "People are going to die in this storm". I realize this, I really don't want to keep hearing it. I'm hoping to get lucky (as in 'staying alive').

We are watching the weather channel but I heard that a few times when we switched to local news.

Umm that is a rather morbid thing to say... Wouldn't it be better to go over survival type info instead of "The world is ending we are all going to die" type stuff??

But at times like this I really wish there was some type of mandatory building codes for the entire US.

yeah you are located definitely in the heart of it. Poor you!

Stay safe! I am in southern central NH (a bit closer to the coast than directly central, but still about 30 miles from the beaches). I am not really in any direct or too indirect path (I hope!) but I am so worried for everyone else!!!

Haven't heard too much of that (what to do to survive), they just want folks to stay at home and off the roads.

Hopefully the builder listened when I told him to hurricane-proof this house. The porch is, lol. But I guess we'll see.

I hope he did too!!
The way it looks now my husband might be headed that way by the end of the week with his crew for work, just waiting to see how bad the damage is and what areas.

Even the news crew got to close on the beach... they lost a camera to a rogue wave...

OC, MD doesn't drain well under mild rains...

The media sources here in the mid-west have started using this form of notification during the height of tornado season. The reason is, they've done research that shows people are not taking the current warning system seriously and instead of taking shelter they go out to see what the weather is doing, because everyone wants to see a tornado

, so they are taking the shock factor approach of "this can and will kill." I know it sounds morbid, but it's aimed at making people take the warnings more seriously. It was supposed to be an experimental thing here they started a season or two ago, so maybe that's the reason behind it there as well. Whatever the case, hunker down.

OK that makes sense then... we know all to well what storms do and look like here but yet we still have morons that decide to go surf or stand on the beach to watch the waves. Sometimes you just can not cure stupid
