I had to evacuate with my 4 doggies from our Maui home Saturday night, due to the tsunami warning (caused by earthquake in BC). Always, scary, but that was the 3rd time in 2 1/2 yrs. so I've got the drill figured out. Luckily there was no damage and we returned Sunday after overnighting at my daughters.

I can't help wonder what the Bounty was doing in that storm or enough near it that they got in so much trouble! You'd think they would have put her to port in a quiet area, well out of harm's way, or anchored offshore in a safe place. It's odd that this happened to her!

Thanks... the news reported a situation with the waves... said a few capsizings were reported... 700 miles is a long way to go to get to a safe place with this storm...

Oh no! That sucks! If it all follows a straight line in the center or close of the house, it may be the ridge vent (if your house has one). I've got buckets and PeePads everywhere (well not quite everywhere but almost!) Pups are confused... cats are watching the drips into the bucket... what fun! (JK)

Yea sounds like time to pull out the insurance policy and read your rider, hopefully you do not have a named storm deductible.

Just heard this: The HMS Bounty was off the coast of North Carolina last night when she lost power and began to take on water. The Coast Guard went 175 miles out to rescue the survivors....

Thank you! This is crazy... I'm accepting any and all prayers, and praying for others at the same time. This storm is huge! Once the wind goes, then the water will come back in, and in other storms, usually goes 2-3 feet over our pier. Hate to see how much water we get with this one! Trees and branches falling are also a very serious threat, bc the ground is so saturated by all the rain.

As Sandy's size became more apparent, a post on Saturday tried to soothe any worried supporters. "Rest assured that the Bounty is safe and in very capable hands. Bounty's current voyage is a calculated decision … NOT AT ALL … irresponsible or with a lack of foresight as some have suggested. The fact of the matter is … A SHIP IS SAFER AT SEA THAN IN PORT!"

Kathy I may have missed this do you have power? We slept in the basement due to the trees in the backyard. My son (he is 5) thought it was fun because we built a fort and my husband, Georgie, him and I had a slumber party. So far no damage and we still have power. How are your fur babies doing?
