Hope everyone stays safe during this storm! Being from New Orleans, I don't like these storms. You never can tell where they're going or how they're going to act. Everyone will be in my prayers!

I'm like you. The darkness & the quiet would get to me in a short time. I'd rather go to a hotel than put up with sitting around in total black with only a couple of lanterns, radio and the little computer screen for entertainment. I'm an information junkie so I don't do well without my constant input. I, too, need my TV to fall asleep a lot of times. If I lived in a place that had a lot of power outages, I'd have to have a generator. I sure hope this storm will just stay out at sea mostly and leave all ya'll alone except for a bit of rain and a bit of wind.

I don't know when it started but it's a fear of mine. I already have candles strategically placed and our bag packed by the door. We kept saying we would get a generator and never did :rolleyes:After this we will for sure! Arizona is looking mighty good right now (my husband and I talk about moving there someday we love the heat:)). I have lived here my entire life and don't recall the power outages like we have now. Or maybe I just didn't have the anxiety I do now.

Well, I'm no fan of the dark either, even if the TV could stay on somehow when the lights were off! Who knows what all lurks in the dark! I sleep with a small bedroom lamp on - have always been afraid of the dark!

I sure hope everyone fairs well and that it misses NYC, just to many people...... I am from Long Island but now live in MI. However ALL my family is there. My 85 year old parents still live in the house that I grew up in, they are frantic and trying to prepare the best they can. My dad bought a generator about 6 months ago, we all though he was crazy since they never lose power, well looks like it might come in handy now. I just hope they can take the stress of it all. My sister lives on a canal on the southshore and this is the first year they decided to leave the boat in their well, hopefully it does not sink or come loose. It is nice to have the warning, but man just waiting and watching does take it's toll.

Poor things! I sure hope they are all spared much trouble. It maybe is still possible it won't do awful things and just be a big rain/cold event! I hate to hear of old or sick folks having to deal with storms like this - they've got enough worries & stressors. God bless them.

Here in northern NJ...so far not much happening....just some wind but they say rain starts in the AM and increase thru the day.

Callie is the same way so my dad went to the back of our property and cut a patch of grass out and put it in the garage and we are hoping it will work if not looks like I will get to take her out in the hurricane.

On fb I have seen that some of our islands in Maryland are already flooding. I also heard the pier in Ocean City is gone.

Hoping everyone in the path of this storm stays safe!!!!!! Want to also say my son in law and his utility crew have been called up to help . Keep them in your prayers for safe travels..... Hope everyone has a safe trip!!
