Donating YT 2000 Club Member | Need advice... Someone dropped off a stray cat and she had 4 kittens. We have really become attached to the momma and kittens. Well I ran over one kitten a couple weeks ago on accident. Tonight I found another one beside the road dead. I think she might have been hiding under my hood when I went out and tried to jump out and I ran her over. My question should I be honest and tell my kids or just keep my mouth shut. They are 11,10 and 6. Thanks for you advice. Melissa~

| Hmmmm, that is tough on everyone. How attached were they? I can honestly say when I was young I had tons of cats, and loved everyone of them. We also lived along a very busy State Route, so you can imagine what happened alot! I guess it depends on your kids, are they ready for it, by their ages I would say they are. When I wasn't ready, it was always, " well they must have ran away" then after a few years of that, I got hip to that.. I do believe it is a good life lesson for children, about dealing with death. I would say they are ready.. are you is the question? ( That's probably the hardest part)

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | I guess that is it I am not ready. I don't want to hear them cry. It breaks my heart. They love these kittens. They care for them without my help. Everymorning they are up checking on them and feeding them. I just hate to see them hurt. Quote:

| death I would tell my children. I felt they needed to learn these things, so they can learn to care for animals and their welfare. I have never been comfortable with "things" just disappearing..I think it makes children wonder what else in their life could vanish. I don't know anything about cats, but if it were puppies, then they would learn they need a fence or safe play yard..best wishes. |
