Default Pitbull bite

Hello everyone, I haven't be around for a long time but i think this is the perfect group of people to ask about this and i would really appreciate any opinion on this topic.
In octuber my neighbors ( best briends kind of or so i think ) got a pitbull from someone, no vet records, not even sure about the age, but i was happy they got him and saved his life, now the dog really grew on them and since i was never afraid of dogs i didnt mind to be around him either, now on halloween, for some reason the dog attacked me and gave me a nasty wound, he actually open up flesh under my eye, you could almost see the bone, plus to more little ones, i was in shock but since i really love animals i though to let it go since he was in a new home, maybe scare,etc..... i took a good care of the bite and now is gone, but my bf got really mad and told me not to go around the dog anymore and i didn't want to either soci stayed away, but after some time i decide to give it a try and i got around him a couple times and it was fine, but i was always uncorfotable whenever he got excited, so i try no to be around so much, meanwhile, they were always aking me if they could bring him to my place and i always said no, because of MY dogs and whenever they were here they would always made uncalled comments, like "oh you dont love our dog" or " he is such a good boy" and i just let it go cuz i though they were my friends, one day i was at their house and the dog growled at me and took my hand, not bite but still scary, so i decided not to go there anymore, the got mad at me, whatever and one day i was coming home from the store and i saw him on the sidewalk off the leash jumping on a lady with a little dog, so i took my dog and waited untill they got him back, as soon i came home they called me asked if they coul come over, i said ok and when they got here they where like " im sorry, my dog jumped you, whatever" and i said that it wasnt me, they got me confused with the other lady, then they got really concern, to me it was like if they have daid this "our dog jumping you its ok, but other people, we need to worry" after that i stopped talking to them, not mad, just better to avoid any other situation, then one day my friend ask me to go with her to her house to pick up a game, told me she was gonna lock him up, i said ok but as soon she opened the door he started barking and came at me trying to bite, after that, i said, OK THATS IT, thin time for real, i got tired of trying to keep the friendship putting myself a risk so i told her and she seemed to finally understand that if they want to see me they have to come over here, so a week ago they came over, we were having drinks and playing a game when one of them was like lets go to my house, i said no NO and she was like, why not, i can control him, he never hurt anyone, bla bla bla, and i said not again and she got all mad telling me i have a close mind, i am stupid and then they left, i didnt say anything back cuz in my head i couldnt believe that somebody could be so unrespectful, ungreatful and stupid, since that day i really dont wanna talk to them never again, my dogs are small but if i have people over and they dont like them or are afraid i would never force someone to be close to them if they dont want to, i am kind of hurt, so what you guys think, am i the crazy one? did i do the right thing? pls i need some advice, thank you.

Hey you!! Good to see you back!! I was just thinking of you the other day!

I'm sorry that happened to you- I don't think a dog that has human blood on him should be alive- That is not going to be good for ANYONE! I agree with you 100% and I think you should stand your ground! I would NOT let that dog around my dogs for a second! I wouldn't even be around him if he took a bite out of me!

They don't sound like friends to me, if I were you I would stay away from this dog and keep him away from my babies!

I am sorry....their dog almost took your eye out. That is THEIR dog, let THEM adore it, YOU owe NO ONE a detailed explanation of WHY you choose NOT to be around the dog! JUST SAY NO!!! And for goodness sakes, do NOT let your babies anywhere near that dog...it obviously has a propensity to bite, and it WILL attack your babies and kill them.

You are in the right. Probably gave the dog too many chances. True friends wouldn't put ou in that position.

When the dog broke skin, was you physician aware? Animal control? If not, why not?

No vet records. How did you know at the time that the dog wasn't rabid? The dog should have been quarantined at the least and possibly euthanized for testing. Doesn't matter the breed. When they break skin, which is almost always the fault of the owner, then the law should take over for your safety.

Hi.... The most important thing is that you and your babies stay safe. It is not your responsibility to prove that they can handle their dog...which we know is not true. Real friends would understand, and would not keep trying to put you in a compromising situation. He nearly got your eye the last time, you were very lucky that time that he didn't get your neck and puncture an artery. They obviously do not know how to handle this dog, please do not put your life nor the lives of your babies at risk.

Also, I would recommend that you get a stun gun or a large can of pepper spray or mace for when you go outside. That dog should be on a leash at all times, and reported to the authorities when he is not.

You made the only decision a thinking person could have - stay far away from biting dogs of any kind, especially big, dangerous ones.

You're not crazy. Don't doubt your instincts. Your "friends" are unfortunately choosing to ignore all the signs of a problem dog that I fear someday will probably end up killing.

I personally think you should file a report with animal control about the bite, and seeing the dog off leash.

Your instincts were right from the beginning. Hopefully you will not doubt yourself so much in the future.

I cannot believe that they expect you to hang out at their place when they cannot control their dog. I think it is completely disrespectful that they would call you closed minded and leave.

Did they know that their dog broke skin? It sounds like they are oblivious to what their dog has done.

Nice to see you posting again, Jasmin

I would call animal control on these people before a dog or a person loses more than a bit of flesh ~ perhaps a life

Good to see you! How are your beautiful babies? You need to post pictures.

I think you are right to be very concerned about this dog, and I think you should avoid these people. I'm glad your face healed and I pray no one else is harmed by this dog.

No one should allow any dog to jump up or act aggressive toward a human, especially a dog that has already caused bad injuries like this dog did to you.

Not as if you needed more support, but you are long past right to say nope, no more visits to you at your house, unless your pitbull is put in his crate or his room etc.

If your "friends" don't know the extent of your injuries from the first "attack" of their pitbull you better let them know.

No dog should be allowed to bite anyone, ever, at almost anytime.... I draw the line at intruders breaking into my home; after all I do have guard dogs.

Please don't put yourself at risk any longer and if you have it in your heart and kindness to speak to your "former friends" you might like to share your experiences with their pitbull and to say how dangerous this behaviour is for everyone.,

You were way more than gracious and giving in this situation. I'm sorry you're having to go through all of this w/ someone who is supposed to be your friend. Friends care for and protect each other. At the very, very least - she should 100% understand why you wouldn't want to come to their house and/or ever be around their dog again. Instead, she continually baits you about it and makes light of it . Dog bites can be very traumatic. It's not right that she seems to be bent on invalidating what her dog did to you.

You deserve better friends who treat you well and show you care and love.

It's so difficult dealing with these types of situations when it involves friends.

Good for you for finally standing up to them and saying NO....enough is enough.

Do you ever see the other person with a small dog that was also traumatized by their dog? I hope they are okay.
