| horrific day! As i felt like this year couldnt have started off worse.. i had hopes that today was going a little better.. untill i was driving home from work today and all of a sudden i heard a woman yell and then i felt a thud... i thought for a moment i ran over a box untill i looked in my rear view mirror and saw it.... a orange cat flopping around in the road... i swerved into a parking lot and ran to the cat where the traffic had stopped and people were standing around... i immediately burst into tears... i called my local police station which was walking distance from where it happened and then two men got out of a pick up truck and took a piece of wood (like a 4 by 4) and used it as a stretcher to move the cat to the sidewalk. ... he was very much alive and a man (who had gloves on) held the cat down because it was fighting to get away.... it felt like the cops were taking FOREVER to get there...not only that but there was this woman standing there screaming and crying at me "HOW COULD YOU DO THIS??" as if i intentionally did this??? as if i wasnt crying just as hard as her?? this poor cats nose was gushing in blood... you have no idea the guilt i felt and am still feeling... i ran to my car where oddly enough i had a huge plastic bin fill of blankets i was planning on taking to the animal shelter.. and dumped it out and threw the thickest blanket i had in there and brought it to put the cat in... the police finally got there and they put the bucket in their cruiser to rush the cat to the animal shelter... it took me a few minutes to group myself together before going down there.. but no one answered the door... i figured there was probably only one person in there and they were probably working on the cat in the back... i pray to God this cat survived... i am a complete mess over this... im sorry this is sooo long.. but i needed to vent... im sure this has happened to many people before... but i feel so guilty!!! i am responsible for an animal suffering.. and i wish i could take a forget pill so i could stop thinking about it i feel horrible |

| also... i have this huge guilt that maybe i should have scooped the cat up and brought it to the animal hospital instead of the shelter... im thinking they might have tried harder to help the cat.. i wasnt thinking at the time from being in complete panic.. maybe they did take him to the hospital but my gut is telling me they most likely euthenized him... ughhhhhhhh i cant deal right now |

and Bear too! ♥ Donating Member | Please don't blame yourself. The cat shouldn't have been outside running the roads in the first place! Accidents happen and you are not to blame. Try to relax and focus on something positive. I can't imagine how you're feeling right now, but it wasn't your fault. Take care.

| This hasn't happened to me, but it's one of my bigger fears in life and I can imagine how you must be feeling. From your account I think you did everything you could under the circumstances. You stopped. You called for help. You centered yourself enough to go get a blanket. It must have been awful. Please don't beat yourself up with the shouldas. You were in shock, and you acted as appropriately as you were able to under the circumstances. Cats shouldn't be in the road. This is not your fault. And I'm sorry it happened. It could have been any of us. Maybe drink some hot tea and go to bed, and hug your yorkie. Sending good thoughts your way. |

| One of my biggest fears too. I am so sorry for you. A few nights ago, I was backing out of my long, curved driveway and nearly hit my neighbor's loose English bulldog. She was sitting in the middle of my driveway and in the dark, I couldn't see her. Luckily she is car smart and moved.

| I'm so sorry this happened. The woman wasn't thinking straight because she was panicking. Please try not to blame yourself. Hopefully, they did all they could do for the cat. You could always call tomorrow and see how it went. Hope you are able to get some rest tonight.

| At least you stopped to help. Do you have any idea how many people would have just kept on driving? Most. If a dog or cat runs out in front of your vehicle - often there is just no reaction time and not enough stopping distance. There was nothing you could do. The owner should have ensured that her animal was NOT out in the road in harm's way. Please do not beat yourself up.
