I like the sounds of that doubt he'd put that much of a guarentee, but as long as I know when the guarentee ends it makes me more comfortable. I am under the impression that even if it takes longer it wont cost me more. But haven't actually read the formal contract.

Just ask him if he would do it, right after he gives his "glowing" statement about what your outcome will be. He will be hard-pressed not to at that point in the discussion. Make sure this outcome is objectified in the contract - such that it will state, in detail, what you will expect to see....as much as possible. Start putting on paper what your teeth will look like when he is done. This is what you would like in the contract

I would even get a second opinion on the procedure. Just to be sure.

Could you take out insurance or add dental insurance and wait a few months or a year? (my braces were paid for through dental insurance due to tmj)

Shop around for the best loan you can get... I have heard that medical loans are a bit easier to get.. just make sure you read the find print and don't get scammed.

Talk to bf.. if he has a stable job maybe you could be added to his insurance .. of course you would have a waiting period for that.

All said and done... if you are careful and this is needed for you to be healthy and happy I would say go for it even if you must borrow the money.

He'd give me the full amount up front so that I can pay off my credit card and the braces all in one swing

I guess it's funny, but we're one couple that isn't going to end up like those on judge judy... we always write stuff down and contract between ourselves. lol He laughed (he's in finance) and said lending to me would be a more attractive investment than some of his stocks, cause he knows I wont default, which is nice at least.
