| Just got a cat....need some advice hey all my fellow kitty cat owners....what is the best cat litter? I used the arm and hammer kind but I don't think it really does that great. I am cleaning it daily, even replacing it all together ever 2 days and it just stinks!!!! what is the secret???????? I have never been much of a cat person but fell in love with this beautiful white kitty, and LOOOOOVE him....but hating the litter box smell....

| Clean litter is best...JK... I found that most that are labeled for 'Multiple cat households' do a better job at controlling odor. Then again, some kitties are stinkier than others so a lidded litterbox might help, if he'll use it. I think I'm using Scoop Away at the moment, I have no complaints. Oh and Congratulations! Pics please!

| I guess the rule of thumb is you should have one box per cat, plus one. So for one cat, you're supposed to have two boxes. In my experience, Arm & Hammer probably works the best out of the litters you can buy at the supermarket. I also use covered cat boxes with doors and this helps immensely. If your kitty has super stinky poop, you might try gradually changing the food. I have one cat that has horrible smelling poop if he eats anything but Life's Abundance. We've tried numerous high quality foods, but it's the only one that doesn't make his poop nasty stinky.

| Oh and a vet check might help if he's got any bugs making him stinky, either bacteria or parasitic...

| I like the clumping kind and felt like I had less wasted litter that way. Also, just like dog food, some cat foods produce stinkier tootsie rolls. And a vet check is a must. Congrats on your new kitty. What fun you will have!!

| When I only had one I used the scoopable litter but now that I have several I use the regular litter and just dump it once a week and put new litter in. I put a little baking soda in the litter also. I also have 2 boxes. Good luck with Kitty, the white ones are so pretty. I have calicos

| I use the clumping kind also and I only feed my cat dry food (he is on a prescription indoor/furball/weight control blend). I have found sticking with the dry food tends to help with the smell along with cleaning it daily.

| Thank you. I love them!!! Merlot is getting neutered today. I worry about him Merlot is very big and very elegant, he walks around all regal. but then when he gets in bed, he "makes biscuits" and sucks on his blanket like a little baby. I love it! Coco is such a little sweetie. she loves to cuddle and just purrs constantly. I've never been a cat person, so this is new to me. but i am loving them

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | We had a cat when we first married and used that Scoop Away Multiple Cat Litter if I remember right. It worked great for us. We just had an old fashioned cat box with the lid dome thingie over it that unclipped when it was time to scoop. We scooped every night and replaced the litter every few days. I was so OCD (more than I am today...LOL) when we first married. I loved our cat, but didn't want our house to smell bad. I had scented candles, fragance cubes, Febreze stuff, etc. going in there all the time.
