OMG your poor DH! That is so scary! I hope he has a fast recovery. I'm so sorry to hear this.

Yes we will go get some pillows. And I think we will use my daughters truck it has a huge backseat and I think we can get him half way comfy. It will be along trip for him. I am very blessed my dogs have never been with anyone but family. I would be going crazy otherwise as they are very spoiled and I miss them. And they will have a hard time understanding all of this. We will have to be very very careful with this injury and the dogs. I am sure we will figure it all out but man it does suck.

I agree. It does suck. It's going to be a long, hard winter. I hope they can get him patched up almost good as new though.

You will be amazed with "plates and screws" can do in the long run. Will be a rough patch for a while, but have faith. Lots of prayers and best wishes being sent your way.

Have you dealt with this kind of injury? He drives truck and flatbeds. His truck is automatic. But worrying about the flatbed part. But it will be months before he will be back driving

Yes, but probably not the same -- everyone's injuries seems to be different, but I have two (yep, broke them at the same time), what my son calls "bionic wrists" and after fighting (and I do mean fighting) through the physical therapy I can do absolutely anything I want

My son has a "bionic shoulder" thanks to Al Qaeda and is still able to pass the rigorous military physical training/testing and remains on active duty.

So, hang in!!!! You guys are constantly in my thoughts and prayers.

So sorry to hear about your huband's accident. That is so stressful and scary. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family. May your husband have the very best medical care and may he heal quickly from all of this.

Thanks that is very reassuring. Man sounds like you have been through the mill. And your son is a hero to be able to keep going. Some would find that as a excuse. I too hope in time we get back to normal and it isn't a real issue.

Yes, we kept saying that a year from now we would laugh about it -- and that was about how it went

. It will get discouraging before it gets better probable but it will get better. Physical therapy is no fun but makes all the difference. Just get I his corner and keep pushing and encouraging !

Thanks again everyone. We did get out of the hospital for a few days go back Friday for more surgeries. We are staying at my oldest daughters as she lives much closer to Rochester just in case we need to get back faster. The doctor that did the first cleaning and setting in our home town. Put one of the stabilizers through his main artery in his foot.. So when they did the first surgery in Rochester they had to get another doctor who repairs arteries to come in and try to fix it. The say he is the best around and he did a good job. Otherwise we may have lost his whole foot.

. Man it's just like finding a good vet.. But in a emergency you are at their mercy.. He is resting as well as he can and I am learning lots. I am not good at giving shots but I am learning as he needs one a day right now. It is amazing how fast your life can change. Anyways thought I would update. I hate to wish my life away but am looking forward to three months from now when things will get back to some kind of normal..

Glad to hear you made the first step of getting out of the hospital - yay!! I'm glad you have a daughter that lives closer to Rochester that you can stay with. Sounds like a nasty break!
