| I'm beginning to think someone dumped their junk bike at my shop It's been here for over a month. He brought in two bikes, and the first one is already done and paid for and gone. He did not leave a phone number. He wanted a tune up and new tubes. I already did the tubes, but can't do the tune up bc the chain is all rusted up. We don't carry chains for road bikes (different size) so i told him to get a chain at another shop and I'll install it for cheaper than another place and I'll do the tune up. He never came back! What should I do? I want to just throw it away. It's not worth anything and needs work. If I fix it up, it won't really be worth it if I try to sell it afterwards. In fact, I feel like if he comes back I should be charging him for storage! We have very limited space here and it's taking up much needed room. What should I do? I don't want to post it on our FB page in case it may embarrass them. I don't have any way to contact them, and I don't even remember the name. They were supposed to come back the next day.

| Do you have a policy on how long you hold on to items. if not I would say 6 to 8 weeks then toss it if no return.

| Yeah I would post a policy...items held for x amount of time, if not picked up becomes the property of your shop. No business holds items forever. I say if it isn't picked up within another week or so toss it.

| I agree I would post a sign in your shop about if something isn't picked up by a certain time it becomes property of shop. Some car repair/body shops will even charge storage if not picked up on time. I would keep it 6-8 weeks and then do whatever you want w it, especially if you put some $ into it and need to recup it.

| Thanks guys! We have actually left it outside by the trash (telltale sign meaning it's free to whoever) for two days and it's still there! LOL! MIL says keep it in case they come back. I don't think they're coming back!

| They left you no information to contact them about their bike. They abandoned it for a month... I don't think they care.
