| Opinions for Wedding favors needed. So we have a grape vine in our yard that grows TONS of Concord Grapes. You can't make wine from those types of grapes and we are never sure what to do with them. Well my mom had this great idea to make grape jelly and can it and give them as wedding favors. So yesterday we went and got all the stuff and My mom, my fiance and I picked, cleaned, boiled down and strained about 70lbs of grapes. Crazy!!! It was soooooooo much work!!! Then we got 1/2 of the juice in a pot and added the sugar and pectin and boiled it, we canned about 67 8oz jars and the jelly did not set. So my mom was reopening all the jars today to reboil it and add more pectin to try to get them to set. We have another HUGE batch to do from scratch. Do you think this is a good idea for wedding favors? We are going to add custom labels to the glass jars and pretty them up. My wedding date is not set yet, but it will either be March or May. If it's March, my colors will be purples and silver and if it's May my colors will be purples and yellows. The grape jelly will be this deep dark shade of purple too (ironic!). What do you think? Do you think that is a good favor for a wedding? Homemade grape jelly from the bride & grooms own yard! Its sooooo much work but I thought it was a good idea!

| I think your grape jelly is an AWESOME favor! Just the fact that you guys took the time to do it yourselves makes it especially personal. I wish I had thought to do something like this when I got married. |

| What a cool idea for a favor. To coordinate it even more to the celebration, you could cut out circles in your wedding colors and tie them to the lids of the jars. Make the circles 1 1/2 to 2 inches bigger than the lids and tie it with a contrasting color ribbon. |

| uuugghhh the jelly is not setting! My mom emptied 1/2 the already canned and brought it up to a boil again and added more pectin. Still not setting well. This is going to be a LONG night! These favors certainly are made with lots of (stinkin!!) love alright!!! LOL

| Thats an awesome idea for wedding favors. If I went to a wedding where the favors were homemade jelly, I'd be thinking wooooow. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. |

| I think that is a wonderful idea. I hope you are able to get it to set. Canning and preserving is so much work but the outcome is well worth it. |

| that's a great idea. unique and sweet and it's matching in color and you can use some quotes or even scripture about grapes and vines and growing in love. |

| This is a beautiful and meaningful idea! If it doesn't set...just give bottles of grape juice. LOL Just kidding! Hope you get the recipe right. Practice makes perfect right?

| I am impressed! Just remember - by the time the wedding comes along you will have done so many other things that the jelly not setting on the first try will be a distant memory! Congratulations! |
