| Bird owners: Febreze safe to use?? I have a question for those that own birds: Is Febreze safe to use in a home with birds? If not, is there a bird-safe alternative? Thanks!

| Hi! Just wanted to let you know that I use meyers clean day fabric refresher. I found it at linens n things, and also at world market. It is safe to use around all pets and has a really nice scent. They also have carpet cleaner, laundry detergent and dish soap. Good luck!

| Back when we used to own parrots, we had subscriptions to Bird Talk and I think another bird magazine; They said no chemicals should be sprayed around birds and parrots. Even scented candles and cigarette smoke is harmful. This is due to the micro tiny air sacs in bird's lungs. You may or may not be aware, but miners used to use have canaries go into mine shafts to make sure the air was safe from dangerous gases. I'm afraid the only alternative is to cage the bird and open a window. Something else worth noting - If allowed to overheat, non-stick cookware has been known to kill birds. |

Their lotion is so out of control when it comes to fragrance and I LOVE it. I'm going to get some of the stuff you're talking about tomorrow! Thank you!

| I have 2 cockatiels and have used Febreeze and OdoBan for years. I also use candles and sprays. So far, it hasn't affected them. But then, Cosmo has taken to holding his claw up in the air and flexing it while he talks to it. It's like he has a sock puppet without the sock. Maybe I should cut down on the sprays.

| Kyle, I've heard yes and no about the Febreze. I used to be on the cockatoo boards and some people say they use it without any problem and some say don't use it. I personally wouldn't use it around my birds. They say to use vinegar and water (like THAT smells at all good).

| Again, 'they' say - Like most things in our lives, it's all accumulative. 1. Enough smoking will eventually kill us (and those around us). 2. Enough fat in our diet will kill us. 3. Enough chocolate will eventually kill our dogs. 4. Enough spraying chemicals around our birds will kill them (and us). I'm just parroting (mini haha) what 'they' say. |
