Shingles is only contagious if the lesions are active, not yet dried up and healing. But you won't give someone shingles you can give someone who has not had them, chicken pox. It is the chicken pox virus. Children and pregnant women would be at risk especially unless tehy already had chicken pox. That you can't get a second time but shingles and reoccur.
