Do you have a basement? I know where we are, if we were in a heat wave and there was going to be rolling blackouts, we'd just go to the basement. Even on weeks that the temp has been 90s everyday, our basement stays about 75, which is wayyyy more bearable. There is no A/C down there, its just that its underground. Our pool right now is so warm it's not even refreshing to swim in... and we have a rather large inground pool, it does not typically hit 82 degrees water temp, but this summer its staying there.

No, most of houses in Texas don't have basements so we are just dependent on our electrical services and A-C to keep us cool. Our electric company never used to have rolling blackouts before sooo many people started moving to Texas and I guess have overwhelmed the system until they can catch up! I have never known a summer before 2010 to have even a mention of rolling blackouts as a possibility and though we never actually had them where I live last summer or this one, so far, during the cold spell around the Superbowl, we did have rolling blackouts from so many people running their Central Heat. I lost electricity one day for 45, 30 and 15 minutes one day that Superbowl week. Oh, for some of that cold air now!

It's 106 right now and expected to be 110, like it was yesterday. This 32 day's straight of 100 +++ temps has wore me down. It's like I can't get comfortable.
I will only allow the dog's outside for 10 minutes at time, so of course I always go out with them. I'm so hot by the time I come back in it takes me about an hour to recover. LOL
Then they want back out again. They are drinking so much water so they have to pee pee more. LOL
I don't even want to see my electric bill that should arrive next week. LOL

I forget which TV Chan, but last night before they got ready to do the weather, they were showing picture's of Cowboy's Staduim with all that snow and ice on it from back in February. The weather guy thought that would cool us down. LOL

It is high 90's and above , with a heat index of up to 109 in some places in Georgia. It is always humid here. Our county has decided to cancel all outdoor practice for schools between 12pm and 6 pm, for all activities. My son plays football and they practice in the mornings from 7:30-!2.00. In other areas of Georgia there were 2 high school football players die from heat exhaustion this week. We don't start back to school until August 15th.

Oh, I missed that! Might have helped for a bit just to see a cold scene. Now that was some brrrrrrr cold weather. It had been years since Dallas has had such a bout of continuing cold weather. Hope we can get some cooler weather next week - haven't seen any longterm forecast yet.

I never thought it would be cooler in Florida, then the suburbs of Wash. DC...still running in the low 90's, but the ocean breeze is a big help...and we do not need AC at night...

No AC nights sounds lovely right now! Ahhh, can't wait until I can turn my AC off for good!

That sounds wonderful, I would love to be on the beach. My brother lives on St. Simons Island, Georgia and they are having nice weather with a lovely ocean breeze.

The weather right now is 81 degrees with some cloud coverage and a cool tropical breeze. My windows are all open right now. ;)

It has just been miserable here!! Like 16 or 17 days straight with 90 plus degree temps we are real close to hitting a record. We have been having some 100 degree days also and thats just not heard of here. We are constantly under heat advisorys. And we are having very little rain so its hard to keep up with the watering of plants and everything is brown.. I am so looking forward to Fall and I hope its not hot out like this. We put a Koi pond in our backyard and we havent even really been able to enjoy it because of this heat. I just keep the faith that its going to get better

Oh my! 81 degrees sounds heavenly to me! Lol. And what is a cool breeze feel like? I think I forgot! :eek:
