| Rated "R" Movie AT School!!! I have been very busy this week at my sons High School. I was so upset, and just about came unglued in the Principals office. My son is in Special Ed Class, there is a Student Attendant who was going to lend my 15 year old son the movie Constantine RATED R. What was he thinking? He brought it to school, and called him over to give it to him. Oh I'm so glad I was there. He said "hey David, I have the movie for you" I was close enough to hear, and I said "excuse me" he looked at me and said "AND YOU ARE?" I said "DAVID's MOTHER!" He showed me the movie, and I think I just about blew up. I'm not sure what the Principal is going to do about it. But this guy needs to get a clue. David is one out of the three I adopted, and he just can't see movies like this. I just hope I calm down for our meeting on Monday.

| My daughter is a teacher and some of the stories of things that are being done and books that are being read etc are in my estimation testing people to see how far they can go. I'm old but my daughter gets more upset than I do. Of course there are reasons your son should not see this. How old is this assistant?? My daughter teaches special ed and she'd probably flip if a kid brought this in but the assistant. Tell the teacher there has to be some changes made or you're off to the superintendent but of course give him time to look into the problem. Parents have alot of pull these days so that is certainly on your side. So glad you were there!!

Well I'm giving them the weekend to give me answers on how this could happen. I just hope he didn't send any other movies home with different students. He is 36 years old, so he should know better. I'm going to have to talk to Davids Doctor, I'm sure he's not going to be happy about this. I hope they send this guy to some classes on what is right and wrong at schools. I worked at a Elementary school for 14 years, (that's where I met my kids). And I know there is no way they would let this slip by. But then this is High School, so I'm not sure what they will do. I guess I'll find out on Monday. Hope they are ready for me, as my Husband will be with me this time, and he's not happy.

| I'm so glad you are going as a team (both husband and wife). I have a feeling the principal will be very glad you came to him.

| to see a rated r or (if they are younger than 13) PG-13 movie in school the teacher must get sighned permission by the parent... how old is your son??? Honestly seeing rated R films in highschool (not IN highschool, but at that age level) is commonplace these days... i have seen stuff like that since i was in elementary school. I understand that you are upset, but it could have been worse. |

I don't think rated R movies need to be in any school. Call me old fashion, but when I was growing up we just didn't see over rated movies. What ever happened to movies like Little House? I just don't get it. Why would an adult, let a child see a movie with such violence? I think it's just plain sad.

| I'm going to be a school teacher and my professional opinion is different than my personal opinion.......lol.... proffesionaly speakiing i dont think they should show it either, but personally (outside of class) there are kids that sneak into rated r movies in the movie theaters, parents buy their kids the rated r tickets and then leave, ect.... what i do think is funny is which movies parents deem okay to watch: for example everyone here knows the movie saving private ryan???? that first scene when the unit was storming normandy beach was AWFUL, VERY violent adn very bloody, but some parents say its okay because it is historical... versus constantine which is less violent (and they wont let their kids watch this one).. i think the problem with the rating system is that it does not get upheld or taken seriously, I was always able to watch wichever movies i wanted (yes even rated r ones) but there is another problem which i think is a lot more violent and damagin than movies and that is video games, specifically grandtheft auto, has anyone heard of this? you can beat up prostitutes and other citizens and run over people ect... this in my mind is much worse than youre problem with constantin (i dont even know why is got a rated r rating, does anyone know????) anyways, like i said it could have been worse |

Your right, it could have been worse, if I wasn't there. If I was'nt there he would have seen it. And that would have been a big problem. Our son is in Special Ed, and has very Special Needs. This 36 year old Student Attendant had no right to bring in this movie. But I do have every right to protect my son, after all, that is why I adopted him.

| I can see why you're upset; I would probably be, too. If it makes you feel better AT ALL Constantine is rather educational. Maybe the 36-year old thought you would approve. He should have asked.

John Constantine has been to hell and back. Born with a gift he didn’t want, the ability to clearly recognize the half-breed angels and demons that walk the earth in human skin, Constantine was driven to take his own life to escape the tormenting clarity of his vision. But he failed. Resuscitated against his will, he found himself cast back into the land of the living. Now, marked as an attempted suicide with a temporary lease on life, he patrols the earthly border between heaven and hell, hoping in vain to earn his way to salvation by sending the devil’s foot soldiers back to the depths. But Constantine is no saint. Disillusioned by the world around him and at odds with the one beyond, he’s a hard-drinking, hard-living bitter hero who scorns the very idea of heroism. Constantine will fight to save your soul but he doesn’t want your admiration or your thanks--and certainly not your sympathy. All he wants is a reprieve. When a desperate but skeptical police detective enlists his help in solving the mysterious death of her beloved twin sister, their investigation takes them through the world of demons and angels that exists just beneath the landscape of contemporary Los Angeles. Caught in a catastrophic series of otherworldly events, the two become inextricably involved and seek to find their own peace at whatever cost. Also Known As: Hellblazer Production Status: Released Genres: Action/Adventure, Science Fiction/Fantasy, Suspense/Horror, Thriller and Adaptation Running Time: 2 hrs. 2 min. Release Date: February 18th, 2005 (wide) MPAA Rating: R for violence and demonic images. Distributors: Warner Bros. Pictures Distribution

More importantly i think it is up to the parent to decide what is ok and what is not, and the funny thing is people will look at you like you are nuts because parents making those kind of decisions is rare when kids are that age | |
