I think all puppies deserve a good home, I think they all deserve to start out with a good healthy body, and never have to be rehomed because the owner can't afford their treatment. I wish that families would never see a dog with a heredity illness that no amount of money will help. Many people use the same argument as you, buy your dogs from pet stores and online, because every dog needs a good home. Well, ever dog deserves a good breeder who can find him a good home. Do you think it's easy to speak up against poor breeding practices? NO, it takes a terrible toll on some of us. Thank goodness, some people see the bigger picture and have stopped recommending people go to backyard breeds for their beloved pets.

I feel bad this post is going in a direction I know Patti did not intend. Patti has such a big heart and is one of the kindest people I know. I think we all want to put an end to bad breeding practices, puppy mills etc but the sad truth is these poor babies are here and deserve a loving home. We all need to do whatever we can do try and get the overpopulation of all dogs and cats under control. Working at a no kill shelter I see the sad faces of animals that through no fault of their own ended up here and thankfully for the lucky ones there are people out there that will love them no matter where they came from. I believe we can educate people in a kind manner and have to remember many of us were not well informed at one time. I love YT and have gained so much from the many wonderful people on here and want to see it continue to be a place where we can all share our common love of yorkies.

I saw that other thread after it was closed and it was one of the most exaggerated things I have seen of late. No one was mean.
If this thread was started with good intentions WHY start out saying things are harsh and mean? Seriously.
If you want to feel badly for someone who is ill, just go there...don't go bringing something else into it.
As for that breeder...she posted a dog at a ridiculously young age for sale and her ad was not clear. No one knew who she was, but she did; and she said it! And, then started using illness? I am sorry she is ill, but the fact remains the ad was offensive. She changed it, but everyone wanted to jump all over someone else for speaking the truth about the ad. Typical for some of the breeders on here who always stick together......one was speaking up against it, then turned around and backed her up, saying she did not read the last line. The last line STILL did not make it right even if a person did read it. The woman changed the ad and yet people still went on and on about how mean the others were.
I say let it die. I am going to let it die for me right now because to even participate any more in this is a waste of time. I have much better things to do.

You know people need to stop and think they are people with feeling behind every post. I was taught if I didn't have something nice to say don't say anything at all. I think alot of people was never taught that. Its not sugar coating anything it just respecting peoples feelings.

As for Sugar's mom it was sad to see someone baited in like that and treated so badly. I wish her a speedy recovery. She really didn't need the added stress with her condition.

Again, so very true. It's so commendable to support and speak up regarding good breeding practices, and it's not easy. I never could fathom why some folks appear to be against good breeding efforts.

I avoid commenting on threads that get controversial, and this one has gone that way although I think it was not the intention of the op. She is right however, there is a spirit of "meaness" if you will at times when the person who is posting is just looking for information.

I love this site, but when I ask a question, I tip toe carefully around the terms and subjects because I don't want to get "shot down" for something that I am doing by mistake. Seriously, much of what is said can be said in a kinder tone. I get what the op was saying and I think there are many others that do too.

It's Christmas folks! Can't we all just get along?

I will say; something has gotten the yorkie boards all stirred up lately. I will also say; that internet forums in general, can be pretty harsh places to be at times.

Maybe it's the holiday stress; but another board belong to (not a dog board); is going through a lot of angst over this very same thing at the moment. I'm sure things will turn around.

I'm going to try and do my part by refusing to get caught up in the drama. I said I'm going to try!

I don't think it's so much people are against "good breeding efforts" rather they may be against some people's definition of "good breeding efforts", contradictory statements, et al.

all i can say is NOT AGAIN... i agree it's Christmas. can we please stop talking about how YT changed and how people are mean and how other people are bad breeders on here or good breeders on here and on and on and on....we all know how we each feel about certain members so let's just suck it up, put on our big girl panties, and keep that junk in our own brains...no need to continue these threads all week/month long and keep the fight dragging on.

edited to add: that's not saying that we stop posting about ethical breeding and teaching right from wrong....that's just to say let's stop fighting about things we may never totally agree on and just state our opinions on the regular threads and move on!

I was surprised to come back on to YT and find the same thing with people sniping at each other. That's one of the reasons I backed off for awhile. I for one was leary of asking for information on certain subjects cause of the responses I would get, if I got any. After having spent the past 2 weeks searching rescues and shelters for a puppy to love and reading some of the history of these dogs, I agree about careless or intentinal misbreeding of puppy mills, BUT..I also agree that even these dogs, through no fault of there own, need someone to love them and give them a forever home. I know that those who are yorkie breeders think that they should not be mixed, it's called irresponsible breeding. I have to disagree to a point as I have a Morkie that was bred to be a Morkie and she is the healthiest and happiest little girl around. To me she is the best of both breeds all rolled into one. I'll leave the breeding to those of you with "higher standards", but please if I come on YT for help with a question or with a sick or injured puppy, can't I just get the help I am looking for without feeling judged. If some people would stop thinking that every post on here is aimed directly at them, things would die down much faster.

I just think the depth of different members convictions are different and it comes out in postings. I know since I started watching Animal Planets: Animal Cops and seeing the abused and neglected animals my convictions about animal overpopulation, bad breeders, and what is a bad owner has deepened. Just imagine the convictions of people who actually work to secure care for abused and neglected animals. I just know no one can judge anothers passion on a subject because they may be seeing it from another perspective because of different experiences.
