Chachi, I totally agree with you., It appears we are in the minority, and thats ok. Everyone has and is entitled to their own opinions. My personal feeling is he would mpot likely be a real good owner now, and yes, he would be watched and scrutinized. I had a grandfather that has a Pigeon Coup, and was heavy into racing pigeons. I think he loved those birds more than his family. If a bird lost, it would up in the Spaghetti Sauce for Sunday Dinner. I do not care for any dog fighters, but it was quite popular especially in the South. Yeah, it still goes on today, and in all major cities. Not enough law enforcement to get all of them. Tosa's fight in Japan. Fighting goes on in other countries. Even the little Yorkies were originally bred for what purpose? Would that be considered mean and unusual today? I fought in many fully Contact Karate Tournaments years ago as I was progressing, and so did my wife and several children. Fortunately, they still let us raise our kids!

| This is such a hard one. Fortunately, I am not his judge and glad I don't have to make that decision for him. I've always believed that as long as someone is breathing that they can change. But if what I read was true, that he personally, drowned dogs with his own hands, among other things, can someone be capable of such horrible purposeful cruelty even have a heart? It's so beyond my own nature that I just don't know. I do know that if he is truly sorry, God will forgive him so I hope I can find that same forgiveness for my own sake. The sad thing is, knowing the nature of dogs, they would probably lick his hand, given the chance. So incredibly sad all around. |

P.S. in regards to this sport still being popular in the south, the KKK is still popular there too, still no excuse. Last edited by jrsygal37; 12-20-2010 at 04:39 PM.

| I never said there was an excuse. I am offering a different perspective of how life really is in certain parts. Now let me brew up a storm with this comment...there are many people in North and South Korea that dine on Dog, Shall I tell you how they are prepared? Also, I can tell you never fought full contact. Have you ever been in combat? Think the next kill will be easier? I am against Dog fighting, nuff said. Fortunately, those of us here will have no vote if he is ever allowed to get another dog. |

| Of course he would still be doing it if her were not caught. He was caught, tried, convicted, cost him millions, and no way to tell if he has seen the light until he gets, if he gets another dog. I doubt it would be a pit, and I would bet it would be treated very well. IMHO |

And, My husband a New York City Police Officer, did not fight in the war but did serve his country, and as a police officer in the worse part of that city certainly saw enough combat, and no the next kill is not any easier. He's also helped the same guys he sent to jail get a job when they got out, but none were as vicious as Vick. I have to wonder if someone stole your dog (God Forbid) to use as a bait dog, how much forgiveness you'd have. And, this is all I'm going to say in this thread. | Why have the rightous not taken this one? Care to guess on the number of dogs and the percent of the population. Sort of makes Vick abuse look like a Misquito and the A$$ end of an Elephant. Current Situation of Korea's Dog Meat Industry |

| We went to lunch yesterday with a couple that the lady use to breed Great Danes. The subject came up about Michael Vick. She said, well it was never really proven he was guilty and he paid his debt and they were just dogs. Look at the children that are abused. I said well, I am an animal lover which I am not sorry for, and personally I think Vick is a sadistic, cruel person, that didn't get half what he deserved. Before it was over I think she honestly thought I was putting my dogs before children. I said a dog does not take priorty over a baby but I don't think any living, breathing thing deserves that. She probably thinks I'm nuts for thinking of mine as my babies. But, I have my opinion and she has hers. To put it like my little Dudley's tee shirt says, Frankly, I don't give a woof. I guess it was a good thing we had got up to leave when this came up. lol!!!!! |

| I have had to forgive some hanis people in my life, and yes I can forgive Vick, because I believe I need to. However, I don't think everyone deserves a second chance for everything, not just this crime. I understand this type of activity occurs in other countries, this is America. There are also other disgusting activites that occur around the world but should not be viewed any less wrong when they happen here, imo. |

| The judge's ruling was that he should never own another dog. Personally I believe that should stick. Forget all the discussions about whether a person can change or not. This was part of his punishment. Too many people are given punishments and then get them reduced...that is why we have so much crime in this country imo.
