You are not talking about a cocklebur are you?? They get embedded into the hair right down to the skin.

Nope, it's not a wild oat either

This thing grew on a single thin stalk that was pretty strong. When I first noticed we had a problem Tuffy was tugging trying to free his chin

We'd been chasing grasshoppers. I truly never ever want to go through it again.

It's in the foxtail family of weeds I believe, like the picture I posted earlier but denser seed pod.
