Need prayers!!! My husband is 38 years old...Slim, active and 100% healthy until recently. He started breaking out in what they thought were bouts of hives every 4-6 weeks. Each time he got them, he'd get sick with different infections (bronchitis, pharyngitis, etc). It happened again and we did the usual, went to urgent care cuz his face started to swell. They loaded him up with antihistamines and steroids and sent us home. He stayed home from work the next day and cleared up and felt fine. Then yesterday, he stayed home from work saying he didnt feel well. His stomach hurt all the way up to this throat and the rash started to come back. I took him to urgent care and on the way there, he threw up and went into atrial fibrillation with a heart rate of 160-170. They admitted him and have been running tests, but so far we have no answers--NONE. They missed the 24 hour window to shock him back into a normal rhythm  so now we may have to wait 6-8 weeks before they can attempt a cardioversion. They are giving him injections in his stomach. Every time he talks his rhythm changes to ventricular tachycardia, skipped beats, pauses, PVCs, etc. His EKG is wayyyyyy off. I'm very worried. My handsome young husband shouldnt be having these problems at 38. We have three kids, the youngest is 10. Please please say some prayers for my husband. |
You have mine and Bruce's prayers. Please keep us updated. 38 is too young to be having these problems! Big hugs to you. :ghug::ghug::ghug::ghug: |
Sending thoughts and prayers your way. So sorry about this. Hopefully they figure out what is going on and soon...:( |
Lots of good thoughts and prayers coming your way. I hope that they are quickly able to figure out what is going on with him and begin treatment to make him well. |
Hope the doctors are able to help your husband soon. Sending prayers and good thoughts to you and him and your family. |
sending prayers your way, something similar happened to my father and the couldn't figure out why, it turned out to be because he drank to much coffee, do you think he could be having some kind of serious allergic reaction to something? |
Keeping positing thoughts and saying lots of prayers for your husband. |
How frightening. Prayers for your husband and big hugs to you. |
You have our prayers, as well. Hope all goes well and this turns out to be a bad dream. |
Hmmmm, my husband went into atrial fibrillation and he had been in it a couple of days before we got him to the hospital, and they shocked him out of it. That's been a couple of years ago though, so maybe the protocol has changed. They are giving him the shots in to keep his blood from clotting and causing a heart attack or a stroke. Both can happen in atrial fibrillation. Your husband can't continue to have the irregular heart beats that you describe. Did they check his potassium? I'm sure they did, but high potassium can cause a rash and also very bad heart problems. I hope a cardiologist is seeing him - a good one - because he sounds like he is having lots of very serious problems, especially at 38 years old. |
Sending lots of hugs for you and prayers for your husband to be made well again. |
Keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers. I will say extra prayers for the doctors to use the skill and knowledge that they possess to diagnosis your handsome husband's medical problems. |

I am so sorry about your son. My husband had an infection around his heart a few years ago and it was difficult to diagnose. I hope they can figure it out. |
My thoughts are with you and your family. This has to be a very difficult time for you. Hopefully you will get some answers soon. Please keep us updated on your husbands condition and how you are doing. We are here for you.... |
Thank you for your support and prayers. I feel like I cant talk about it with anyone in the family so I keep bottling it up and not letting anyone see me sweat. I dont want my family to re-live the grief of losing my child. It was so hard and it hurt me to see them cry. I'm not the type of person to go blurt out so much personal stuff on a forum like this, but I have to have some outlet that I can talk about it and not feel like I'm hurting someone I love in the process. I fell apart when I came home from the hospital tonight. I had to hide it from the kids cuz I dont want them to worry about their daddy. I locked myself in the bedroom. I feel so helpless. I want to go to the cemetary and pray at my sons grave side and maybe I can put some of the old buried grief back to rest and try to deal with my husband as a seperate entity, but its an hour and 1/2 drive away and I cant leave town with my husband so sick and have kids and my yorkies. |
Oh my goodess I'm so sorry! I haven't been on in a week or so and I see this! I'll start praying straight away! You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. |
I will keep your husband and family in my prayers. I hope you get some answers soon! |

Im so sorry, lots of prayers going your way. I know you must be worried sick. Hope he is better soon. |
I'm so sorry you have no one to share this with. I know that makes it harder for you and you are right that you don't want to upset your family. I'm still saying prayers for your husband that he will soon be diagnosed and be well, so he can be home with you again. |
I will say a prayer for you and your husband! I know this must be frightening. My son had a heart attack at 24. He was (still is) in the Navy, fit and in good health. They never found a cause but he had been sick (sort of flu like) for a few weeks before. About a month later, I read an article telling about young men being hit with heart attacks/problems being caused by a virus. I am pretty sure that was the case for him. Sounds very similar to what your husband experienced. Praying your husband comes out of this just as healthy and unaffected as my son did. He has never had another problem and that was 10 years ago. |
My thoughts and prayers are with you! I hope the Dr.s can come up with the answers as to what is making your hubby so sick. This is only my uneducated, gut feeling, but have they checked the possibility of Lupus? I know several people who suffer from this and at least one has had heart problems with it. |
