| Water allergy, someone??? I have Aquagenic Urticaria , or Water Allergy in english, i was wondering if someone here suffers from it too?? please post it here if you do I would want to hear from someone else who has this also. I'm starting to get more and more rashes and more itching, i took a bath yesterday and im still itching now 24 hours later I also have very sensetive skin, theres no cure to this but i would like to know if some creams or something work well on this ? Its very difficult to can't take a shower or go swimming or anything without itching, im starting to wash my hands not often cause i itch so much, and when i bathe my yorkie i get itch all over , at first i thought i had allergy to my shampoo's and had a dog allergy but its not that, i get it from pure water. Please let me know if you have it or know someone who has this also ,and what that person does to prevent this mostly ?

| Wow!! Sorry to hear that! Are you taking antihistamines?? There are other medications that can help with the symptoms. I suggest you try to wear gloves when you have to handle water like bathing your dog. You know we use Sage/comfort baths in the hospital for patients who can not shower. They have vit e and aloe vera in them . You could certainly decrease the number of showers by using these on alternative days. here is the link Sage Products, Inc. Shopping Cart I know walmart sells them! HMM I wonder what the water content is if any?? I also hear that distilled water can prevent itch with pts with water allergies. Has your MD offered any suggestions for you?? Good luck |

| Wow! that must be extremely difficult. I found this: Aquagenic urticaria - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Says antihistamines help. Apparently it is in the ions in non-distilled water.

| Very interesting. When my son was a baby we went to visit relatives that lived on a farm with well water. He broke out into a horrible rash after a bath. I'm pretty sure it was the well water. I hope that you can get some answers.

| Thanks, yes i can't get any ''special'' bath products here in Iceland since I'm propably the only person in this country who has this, I went to a doctor (allergy doctor or something I dont know what its called) and he said that many people got this maybe for a year or two , then it would go away, but i've had this since i was maybe 9 or 10 year old and I just get more and more rash and more itching with the time, I'm so scared that I will have very much allergy later when im older , I just hope not. I try to excersice more cause im maybe 15 kilo's too fat, i go out jogging but when i sweat i get itch under my hands, on my neck and everywhere people sweat, thats really hard cause i wanna excersice more, but i do it anyway I also dont go much out in the summer, because i get terrible headache and also cause i sweat then. Its just new this thing that the sweat itches, it came just this summer i think, weird. I'm propably going to the US next summer, I'm going to buy some creams and something to try to cool the itching, if there is anything like that

| So sorry you have to go through this. I had never heard of the condition before but looked it up and came across info to explain. It must be terribly difficult to experience. Might try to contact Ashleigh Morris in Melbourne, Australia. Here is an article about her: The teenage girl who is allergic to WATER | Mail Online I think the first listing on this page is her: Ashleigh Morris - Directory | LinkedIn There is a link to send her a message. I know if it was me, I would really like to be able to talk with someone else experiencing such a rare condition. Good luck and I sincerely hope it does go away instead of worsening! Does distilled water do the same thing?

| Clindomycin is a prescription lotion that is used for skin irritation, that may help with your itching. My girlfriend had an itchy rash when she was pregnant and she used it and I have mild acne and I use it. It works pretty well and it's cheap enough at $15 for a 30 day bottle (that is through my insurance though).

You can also order special bath products online and have them shipped to Iceland. Shipping might be expensive....but the relief would be worth it! I have psoriasis and I KNOW how bad the itch can be...believe me

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Sun - I'm sure your English is far better than everyone's Icelandic - so don't apologize for yourself. We understand what you're saying and that's what counts. I'm so sorry you have this problem and hope you find some solutions you can live with. |
