R..A..N..T I'm so done with Walmart! :thumbdown I'm D O N E! :thumbdown There was a time that I loved good old WallyWorld but I really do think I am officially done shopping there for the bulk of my groceries and household items. The shelves are empty, the selection of products is horrible, you NEED to know your prices, their produce is one step from the dumpster, they no longer sell their cute dog clothes lines, the lines are long and their employees are either disgruntled or just don't care they have jobs! Let's not even mention how the Super Walmart 5 minutes from me thinks that everyone is a thief and demands to see your receipt to exit the building. After waiting in line forever and stuffing the receipt into god only knows where I now have to stand at the door and prove I just waited 20 minutes in line and dropping a boatload of money with all of the other people searching for their receipt to get past this guy. There must have been 15 people standing around waiting for ONE EMPLOYEE to look over each customers receipt to exit the store! :thumbdown When I asked why he needed to see it he said for the giant package of paper towels on the cart~~even thought ALL MY OTHER FLIPPIN' GROCERIES WERE IN BAGS! If I was going to steal something I would be taking that 54" TV and not a $9 package of paper towels out the door! To put the icing on my visit~I am pushing my cart full of stuff and some woman who had on Indian moccasins and Rainbow Brite shorts with her (not face) cheeks hanging out needed to comment aloud that I had a lot in my cart! I should have taken a picture for Linda's thread or to submit to People of Walmart.com I use to buy my jeans from Walmart~not because I am cheap but I loved how they fit and they carried tall sizes. Not any more! I loved their craft department~gone! Even my daughter commented how they don't have any selection in their clothing or jewelry departments. She would occasionally find something cute but not anymore! Nope~all gone! Sam Walton must be turning over in his grave! :( :confused:Am I the only one that feels this way? After shopping on Saturday and now needing to go to a second store to get what they didn't have it really pushed me to never wanting to go back. |
I love your rants LoL Here in Mass, we dont have a Super Walmart..so its bascially just clothes and home goods.....so i try not to go in there if possible. My husband BEGS me never to take him there. But IF by chance we do have to go there for something, he physically has a panic attack when we go there. I have to remind him to breathe. The other day i went there with my girlfriend cause she had to return something. There was about 25 people in line and only one person doing returns. Noone was in the check out lines..and the manager came to the return area to sign off on something and just walked away!!!.....Dont you think as a manager she should have stayed and helped her out? BJ's Wholesale Club has a person hanging out at the door checking receipts too...i often wonder if they are really looking at my receipt and items OR if they are thinking what to make for dinner tonight LoL :D |
Walmart stinks!!.......I'm having the same problems you are......I ALWAYS have to stop at another store to get the stuff they didn't have!......Walmart seems to have the mindset of "take it or leave it"........I also find the produce questionable....Is that stuff from China too??? My DH HATES to stand in their lines...... They have 1000 registrars and only about three of them open!......Are all of the other ones for display purposes only.....And why are the snails working on the registers????? And as for that guy at the exit door checking receipts....I have always wanted to bend over and tell him to....... Check here! |
Sorry to hear that. I still love our wal-mart super center because it's very close and after comparing prices I can get a lot of stuff cheaper than anywhere else. I love the George clothes. But I have to admit lately I noticed that the lines are getting longer and longer, the self-check-out is not always working and some products I was used to get are not in stock anymore. They only ask for your receipt at the exit if the alarm goes off. Hopefully things improve! |
I hate Walmart, too. When they remodeled our store a year ago they widened the aisles and put in nice lighting, but now the inventory is terrible. You have to order everything online. And a word of advice on that........ They won't reimburse you for shipping if something arrives damaged! I ordered a Hoover Floormate a few weeks ago and paid to have it shipped to my house since it was so heavy. One of the pieces was broken so I couldn't assemble it. I had to lug it back to the store and was informed that they never refund shipping even on damaged merchandise! The fabric & crafts section is gone now, too. :( |

i've always hated Walmart. The ones around me are always full of trashy people. both the customers AND employees usually don't speak english. Both are equally rude and the employees are unhelpful because they either don't care or don't speak english. the last time i went there was around easter last year. I saw a commercial for bags of one color M&Ms. I was throwing a baby shower for a friend so i wanted to get a bag of pink ones there figuring they would be cheaper then the ones at party city. So off i go to the closest Walmart. As soon as i get into the parking lot some moron almost hits me because they neglected to stop at a stop sign. I should have just turned around then and there but i wanted those darn M&Ms. I get into the store and start searching around the easter stuff and then candy isle. no M&Ms to be found except large bags of peanut M&Ms. I figure i'll just ask someone where they are.... 10 minutes later i find an employee who works in that section of the store. I ask her about the uni-color M&Ms bags. First she points me to the regular candy isle, but then i tell her no, and explain about the commercial with the single color bags. Now she looks like she understands and takes me to the location. We end up in the baking isle and she points to the cake icing. I sigh, say thank you, and walk away to continue the search on my own. Eventually i find the M&Ms i'm looking for (in a totally obscure area of the store) and guess what.... NO PINK.... they only have orange and yellow...... so after being in the store for 40 minutes looking for M&Ms i have an arm full of stuff that i really don't need but picked up anyway on my search. i head to check out only to find 3 out of 20 registers open with at least 12 people waiting. the self checkouts are not working. at this point i'm so frustrated with the stupid store that i put all my stuff on the closest shelf and walk out of the store vowing to never return again. and i haven't. another walmart experience that comes to mind happened a few years ago out at a store on long island. i was with my aunt and she wanted to pick up some cigarettes so i drop her off at the front of the store so she can run in real quick. I ended up having to park somewhere and wait because it took 20 minutes for her to come out. she said the people working the counter were so slow and incompetent that they probably shouldn't be the ones behind that specific counter. she had seen 3 people on line in front of her that definitely were not 18, purchase cigs from these employees. |
I hear you! I detest Wal Mart now. The one in town has been undergoing "remodeling" for a few months and it's horrible. It's being done in this horrible yellow/orange color that just sets my teeth on edge every time I walk in there (I'm sure they paid big bucks to some color consultant who told them it energizes customers and makes them buy more...) Half the stock is gone, and what's there is really pitiful in quality. Don't even get me started about the check out lines and rude employees. Thankfully, Target is right across the street. |
I never shop at walmart. The reason why is the rude shoppers in there and the rude employees. That place just seems to attract low class people. |
Wow~after I posted my rant look what I found! Guess I we not alone. It says that Walmart has had lots of complaints just like ours! Hmmp  Poor Sam has just flipped back over in his grave. :D Love Target! WalMart Faces Criticism from Mom Bloggers - ABC News |
I rarely shop at walmart. I hate it when I have to go there because I can't find what I want anywhere else, like the hairbands in the girls department. The last time I went there to get som Buzz Lightyear PJs for my grrandson. There was no price anywhere. I walked all through that department to finally find someone to tell me what the price was. she said she didn't know to go to the fitting rooms and they could tell me. So I walked around looking for the fitting rooms, finally found it, asked the lady (I think it was female) what the price was, she said it should be there on the rack. I said no it is not, I looked. So she sighs and scans it for me. like it was some huge bother. |
I guess thats what we get for minimum wage. |
I used to love the fact that Walmart sold USA made stuff. Those were the old days when Sam was still alive. Bruce does all the shopping and he rarely goes to Walmart. But if I want a particular item (like when I was looking for my dehydrator), I look at Walmart online to see if they have it and if the stores near us carry it. If they do then I send Bruce for it. In the case of the dehydrator I had to order it online. But I find it isn't a good idea to call the local store for anything, they put you on hold and then forget about you. |

She finally got someone from a different department to pick up the phone and all he said was "Sorry, don't think we have that"!!!! |
That sounds horrible! By law (in most states at least), you actually don't have to show your receipt, except at membership-type stores... Ask The Consumerist: Do I Have To Let Stores Check My Receipt? - The Consumerist |

My biggest pet peeve is the shoppers who bring all 80 of their kids and turn them loose to play in the store while they shop. The few who don't seem to view shopping as a competitive sport and like to spread out the whole family to block the aisle. Then if you say excuse me to pass by, they act like YOU are the rude one. George won't go to Walmart with me anymore because I have a habit of telling mothers to control their children in the store. I don't need carts banged into my legs, I don't need to fall over stuff the kids leave on the floor, and I don't need to buy merchandise broken or dirtied by kids. And I'm normally so mild-mannered I will do about anything to avoid confrontation. Hometown Buffet seems to also bring out the virago in me -- George is still talking about the "Ice Cream Machine is not a Jungle Gym" incident of a few years ago... |

Wal-Mart is a last resort for me - only if I can't find the item anywhere else. I think most of them have been remodeled recently and are crap. I hate that they no longer carry fabric (most of them don't) anymore yet they have put all the smaller fabric stores out of business in the past few years. hmmm I shop at Kroger and Meijer anyway. I like to use my coupons and those are the stores on my list (grocerygame.com) and WalMart isn't a list store for me... so I rarely bother with it anymore! |

Wow, I'm so out of touch! I need to ask my hubby if: 1. He speaks English 2. He's a moron 3. He enjoys getting spit on,cussed at, having carts shoved at him, etc,etc 4. He is secretly personally making Walmart policy for returns or reciept checks 5. He enjoys having a gallon jug of BBQ sauce or a sixpack of beer thrown at him and to the person who stated "that's what you get for minimum wage"- yes it is, a guy who tries to smile and greet everyone, hand you a cart as you enter the store and bring out the electric scooters for the elderly or disabled, keep the entry area and shopping carts free of trash,-AND he's doing this while checking reciepts because unfortunately not everyone is the upstanding, kind, sweet people such as I read about. Yes,he cares about his job,he also does his job after 3 heart-attacks & 1 stroke... Are there people who shouldn't be working with the public at WalMart? Youbetcha-but we all know that ONLY Walmart hires no-good lowlifes. Should you lump everyone together? Have a good day and keep spreading the love! |

Oh I used to hate, hate and hate Walmart (yes I know hate is a strong word) until.... Black Friday 2009. Yes you read that correctly, I started to love Walmart on Black Friday. I spent HOURS in line with my friend while she waited for $299.00 laptop for her daughter. I spent a lot of time strolling around the store, breaking into the Door Busters and generally having a great time. At one point I started filling carts for people standing in line. As you can guess its a 24 hour Walmart so we got to wait inside the store. I pass two Walmarts to get to "my Walmart" it is the best kept secret in North Fulton county, no one goes there but me a few other people (members from the area its on Hwy 9 just North of McFarland). |

your right, we shouldn't lump them all together. I'm sure the walmart your husband works at is very nice and i would love to go to one where i'm greeted and helped by someone like him. however the majority of them, especially the ones in urban areas, are trashy. I have been to a very nice one up by the outlet mall Woodbury Commons in upstate NY. very clean, nice employees, and even a starbucks! The Kmarts in my area are the same way. Give me target anyday. never had a problem in any target. |

LOL- That is a nice one. The one up in Dawsonville across from the outlets isn't too bad either. |
