| ![]() Boy!! I really enjoyed reading all these complaints- Thought I was the only one that hated Walmart. I live in a very very small town. We had 2 supermarkets before Walmart-- Well they came in here and very quietly undercut the prices or matched all the others stores special sales prices. Of course everyone shopped Walmart for convinience.. First one store went out of business and within a year the second one went out of business. Now Walmart has had a big inventory and the shelves were empty on a lot of items- now that that is over they have restocked and GUESS WHAT???? Big price increases on most of the items in the store. WALMART SUCKS!! Tired of their reducing the amount in a package and now charging more for the item-- Do they think we are stupid and haven't noticed that they are now selling a 4lb bag of suger instead of a 5lb bag and it is costing more than the 5lb bag cost originally??????? Plus the quality is gone(What little there was)-- You open a can their brand of anything and it is not full- more liquid than anything. Well we have to drive an extra 25 miles to go to a regular grocery store but I am going to do it. I am mad and not going to take it anymore!!!!! |

| ![]() I hate Walmart almost as much as y'all, maybe more because I work there! College educated (business degree) but it was the only job in my town I could find when I graduate. Now that I've move 1100 miles away from home to the big city of Austin, Texas I'm looking for a new job, preferably a salaried one in my field! The shelves are empty That is because they've instituted a new inventory control system. It works well IF you fix the inventory numbers. BUT in order to save money Walmart has cut a lot of workers and now has department managers running 3 or 4 depts. With that many depts (and products!) and virtually no help they just can't get all the fixing and ordering done. I was lucky because I was the pharmacy manager so I only had one dept. However, I still had 50-100 products out of stock in my department (out of a few thousand items) because I couldn't get them in from the manufacturer the selection of products is horrible- yep. They mainstreamed a lot of stuff trying to save money, but in the end its just driving the customer to shop at other places b/c they can't find what they need. you NEED to know your prices again w/ 1 person running multiple departments its near impossible to keep everything priced. Just with my one department I would have trouble keeping labels up on everything... usually b/c people or kids will take them down. the lines are long and their employees are either disgruntled or just don't care they have jobs! Its really hard for employees to give a darn when the store treats them like crap! there is a scheduling system in place now, and it schedules people by the amount of money made by that store the previous year on that day. The result is being short staffed most of the time. When you are doing multiple peoples jobs for practically minimum wage its hard to have a good attitude. At my store I was running a department that makes 100,000 a WEEK (and that was just the OTC part, not the behind the counter pharmacy), pretty much by myself for $9/hr. I earned 40 hrs of vacation my first year there, but because my job code in the computer said "part time" instead of "full time" even though my first year I worked full time every single week, I did not ANY of my vacation time I earned. Also, the insurance they provide is crap. Most employees can't afford it. My fiancee and I only got the dental with was 12 each month, we were planning to use for the free cleanings once we got to Austin, but b/c our job codes dropped back down from full time to part time again we lost our dental insurance. So that was 100 from each of us down the drain. I could go on and on and on with ways that walmart treats their employees poorly. So its really hard to care to do a good job when you are treated like that. Though I still try to. We do NOT shop at Walmart anymore. The only thing we'll buy there is on occasion when we are getting off work (we work from 10pm-7am) and don't feel like stopping any where else. Luckily we have a H.E.B. a couple hundred yards from our apartment and we just walk there any time we need groceries. We'll occasionally go to Whole Foods for things like the dogs' food. Everything else we need (which usually isn't much) we try to buy second hand. |

Poor Sam Walton just turned over in his grave again. Maybe he will get really disgusted and come back to haunt the executive board for their horrible business practices. ![]()

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | ![]() @ Sladesmommy- Welcome to Georgia! ETA: Ok, I'm confused. Her tag line says she's moving from TX to GA in August, but her post says she just to Austin. I think I need more caffeine this morning. In any case, I hope you find your dream job soon.

It was very interesting to hear from an employee of Walmart. SHAME ON THEM!!!! for the way they treat their employees. Just one more reason not to shop there anymore. We knew something was going on in our Walmart but just wasn't aware of all the problems they were having. You can be sure it isn't lack of profits, they are just greedy and don't want to share with their employees. They believe they have everyone by the short hairs, but wouldn't it be funny if because we all quit shopping there it would make a difference. Would love to see one of these stores go out of business like they have run off all the Mom n Pop owned stores. |

| ![]() This thread is a good one! ![]() I hate Walmart but LOVE the savings...especially since the posh Austin Walmart's have started carrying brands that you'd find in Central Market (a gourmet grocery store) and Whole Foods. We have several very nice ones here and they are opening a new special one in a month, in central Austin that will be 10 times better because they went through h__l just to get to build it. The neighborhood fought them tooth and nail for years. Walmart won but with restrictions. They took half of a closed down mall and remodeled it and it has to green and pleasing to the eye, and carry things a lot of urban Austin city dwellers would buy.

| ![]() When Sam died the store just kept getting worse until it's in the pits. You can't even get a piece of meat cut the way you like called it's all pre-packaged. I go to Winn Dixie for my groceries now, and shop different little thrift shops for other things I need. Great prices, friendly people.

| ![]() Walmart has the worst customer service both in store and on the phone. Don't even call, they put you on hold and NEVER come back. I still can't get a reason why they stopped carrying the Lulupink line. If you call corporate and complain with a legitamite complaint they will have the store manager call you with apology and a 25.00 gift card. I bet they are going broke with this alone. You would think they would straighten there act up. I shop at Kroger for groceries and such and Goodwills and second handy stores for other things when I can. Otherwise I go to the Mall which is 2 1/2 hours away one way just to keep from going to walmart. |

| ![]() My entire family (kids included) HATE Walmart and have for years. TARGET is my only go-to store for hba's, dry groceries, etc. Neat shelves, clean store, pleasant employees. Walmart is dirty, unstocked and has bad-attitude employees (generally speaking).

| ![]() This is exactly why we never did shop there much. They come into town, undercut prices, force other businesses to close, then maybe even raise prices. I'm no econ major or anything, but something tells me if there is only one store in town, that is bad for jobs. lol. Our weakness is Sam's. ![]() We have Meijer in Michigan and four of the surrounding states. It's much the same as a store, but we feel way more comfortable supporting them.
